A lot of fringe talent at key defensive positions

That will be the $64,000,000 question. Maybe I bought into the hype between Collinsworth and Michaels? Since this was the first game I watched, and since it was on national TV, there is always the chance that it was all hype.

But at least the question is "which of these guys should we cut" instead of "which of these guys can we have start":smiley1:

This points out just how good the Steelers organization is at keeping their BS in house (thank God cause they create enough of it). Most of us loved 92 when the rest of the world hated him and now I think we should tell him he's not welcome to retire as a Steeler.

I like Collinsworth but you have to take his comments with a grain of salt. Seems like whoever has the ball is his new favorite team.

I think he is good at his job and his job is to make every player in the NFL sound like a super star. He must do a ton of research to find those handful of plays that he can reference to make a guy sound invincible!

When you ranked as low as we were last year at lb and you see it transformed by young talent, you better keep some of that young talent.

I still believe they made a panic signing with vince and to an extent chickillo. We are stuck with high contracts and players that don't make us better when they start. These guys don't make many splash plays and the young guys have. You can't always wait for an injury before you give some of this young talent a shot. Sometime you have to take a chance on upside.

That is clearly the best way to go about it. Me being a glass half full and a pessimist by nature,I’ll always be cautiously optimistic. Even though it’s PS ,the eye test to me sees a deeper, more talented and focused team. That being said I like what I’m seeing so far. Offensively it will boil down to establishing a proper run/pass balance and as usual the play of Ben. What does have me a bit excited though is our defense. I think our D may finally be up to the task of actually making life a lot easier for our O . Field position, turnovers etc....

If we can actually get both units playing well on a game to game basis....dare we dream?

But like you said....they have to prove it when it counts.

It’s hard not to like what we’re seeing from MR. As much as I couldn’t get used to the camera angle last game ,it did give a nice perspective. Seeing the plays at that angle allowed you to see the routes being run and developing. Besides the miscommunication that happens to the best of them, to me it looked like Mason was reading, recognizing and delivering on time. He’s had a lot to learn. Especially not having taken a snap under center in college. I for one am pretty happy with his development so far. IMO it’s hard for anyone not to be....

I was looking up his Honeymooners bit a month or so ago and was reminded just how unreal the aids scare was back in the 90's.

There's little doubt that the last 2 games is the best Big Dan has played in his career. Has the lightbulb finally turned on? Or is this desperation okay in order to make a roster?
