calling an audible based on reading the defense is the qb's job doesn't make him a coach
and the play they audible into is also called by Haley

I don't care what he's done. And I'm not taking anything away from his past contributions to the Steelers organization. Everyone is indeed entitled to their opinion.

However, his history has no bearing on that fact that he has acquitted himself with a complete lack of class, in this situation. And he does look like a clown to levy accusations about a person that he admits he doesn't know. That's a low-class move no matter what he's done in his past.

    And I stand by that.

Agree. Bradshaw was one of my childhood heroes. I'm truly disappointed with his comments. I love what he did for the Steelers, but he's making a fool of himself.

As I said, I think Bradshaw may have gone overboard with his cheerleader comment given his standing in the national sports media but I understand where his comment came from. Shoot, I've said on this message board that Tomlin reminds me of a fan or a cheerleader on the sidelines and doesn't seem to be involved in coaching the game at times. But then again I admit that I'm looking at it from a fan's perspective and have absolutely no idea what Tomlin really does behind the scene and neither does Brad. That's simply his perception of Tomlin.

Is Bradshaw quirky? Yes. Is he maddeningly frustrating? Yes. Is he petty and childish? Yes. He is an enigmatic figure to say the least. But I just think it's overboard to call him a "classless clown". He's firmly entrenched in the psyche of Steeler nation as the most successful quarterback in team history. He may be our prodigal son, so to speak, but is and always will be one of the most endearing figures to ever don the Black & Gold and until Tomlin, Ben and company bring home a few more Lombardis I'll give him some room to spout off at the mouth and critique their performance or his perception of their performance, flawed though it may be.

You jumped in midstream. So do us all a favor and go back and re-read the comments prior to that so you can give yourself some context.

And all three of those games were wars, too. I just can't believe how close Flacco came to being the first rookie QB to start a Super Bowl.

Unfortunately, for Tomlin, he's the first Steeler head coach to lose a playoff game to a division foe.

Cowher misses the distinction by 1 year. 2001 Titans in division, 2002 lose to Titans in playoffs.

Of course, it's a totally meaningless distinction

It seems retired players in the HOF have been calling out head coaches who coach their former teams, Joe Namath has done it, Eric Dickerson just called out Jeff Fisher, and now TB is playing copy cat, I wonder if they do it just to get back into that lime light they miss so much??? We all know Tomlin isnt a great coach, but we just hope he doesn't screw up a game for us, especially now in the playoffs.....

Noll would have had that distinction if instant replay had been in effect in the 70s. Renfro was in bounds.

I agree Baltimore as much as we all hate them they are a worthy opponent. Then to beat them 3x in one season and one being the playoffs that's a big win. Remember they beat us twice last year and had very little talent. Some of those Charger and Cincinnati teams were good. Remember Tomlinson who was a beast. Rivers is a good QB as well. Never mind how loaded Cincinnati was before this year. So saying we played weak teams is not true.

I have no problem with Bradshaw saying Tomlin isn't a great coach, there's only 2 great HC in the NFL Belichick, Carroll. But Bradshaw crossed the line with his cheerleader comment that's disrespectful. I also like Tomlin's subtle dig at Bradshaw, saying he grew up a Cowboys fan and he really liked Thomas Hollywood Henderson.

He won 2 championships in college, and has been to 2 SB. Carroll is probably the best HC after Belichick in the NFL.

Carroll just lucked out with getting a loaded team on both sides of the ball. Belicheat wasn't a good coach till Brady came along. Nobody wins in Cleveland these days in football though. Now that's not saying he's not a good coach because he's got a great system in New England. I know they went 3-1 without Brady but I'll be interested to see how good they are without Brady.

I don't consider him a great professional head coach. He's a very good head coach IMHO, but not great. But I respect your opinion and don't consider it off base at all. An argument could be made for Carroll's greatness.

I think there is currently only ONE great head coach and that's Belichick. When I think of greatness I think of multiple Super Bowl winning head coaches. Chuck Noll, Don Shula, Bill Walsh, Tom Landry, Jimmy Johnson. I think greatness ought to be reserved for, well, greatness, and I just don't think Carroll is there yet.

I don't know, 6. He's good, but not trying Marshawn Lynch even once on first and goal to win the Super Bowl? That has to be one of the worst coaching decisions I can remember.

He did a great job of building that team though.

Super Bowl XXXVII experience doesn't count? Only the one with the Steelers and him as head coach? Sorry, we have different ideas on that.
Or did you forget he was in the NFL became he became the head coach of the Steelers?

Wrong. I knew he was a DB coach for the Bucs when they won the Super Bowl. I also know that he was the Vikings D coordinator in the '06 season which helped him land the job with the Steelers. I know Tomlin's history... he played WR for William and Mary, etc. I didn't forget anything.

It's not an opinion. Cowher won more playoff games in his first 10 years than Tomlin has. That's why I give him the edge at this point in time. If Tomlin wins LI... then I'll change my outlook.
