Cowher didn't even want to draft Roethlisberger, Rooney overruled him Cowher liked Philip Rivers more and he wanted to draft OL Stacy Andrews . How many Super Bowls did Noll win after Bradshaw retired?

The Steelers have two great head coaches as assistants. Todd Haley and Mike Munchak. I can't believe teams are not interested in these coaches. They are no Mike Tomlin... but they would make awesome Head Coaches for the Rams, Jags, 49ers... anybody but the Browns.

Hi everyone, I'm Jeh and I'm a Tomlin fan.

    I'm also a fact fan.

The whole goal to playing football is to win the Super Bowl. To do that you have to win playoff games.

Marvin Lewis has won zero playoff games in the last 5 years and everyone wants to run him out of town.

Mike Tomlin has won 1. Bill Belichick has 8.

This fact makes me go hmmm.

Not sure I would call Haley and Munch great head coaches. They both were pretty crappy as HC's

I dunno...Haley turned KC around and got them into the post-season with Matt Cassel. He was fired in 2011 despite the fact that he lost a considerable number of players to injury, including Charles.

Head-to-head, with lesser talent, Haley went 1-1 vs Tomlin. The Chiefs won in 2009 and then lost in 2011; the second game was one of those that is a black mark on Tomlin's record, despite the Steelers winning. It was the most a pathetic performance from the Steelers: Tyler Palko nearly led the Chiefs to a Sunday night win:

The game NEVER should have been close.

Funny, Steelers have a ton of injuries and suspensions over the last couple years and make the playoffs yet Tomlin is a bumbling fool, a glorified cheerleader?

Yeah Todd Haley has injuries and he's a great coach for making the playoffs.

I didn't say Haley is a great coach...he wasn't around long enough to tell. And I don't know if he would ever be a better HC than Tomlin. I am merely pointing out that Haley did a good job of taking chicken $#!t and making chicken salad. That he nearly beat a healthy Steelers team in 2011, with Palko at QB, is at least saying something.

I worked for someone who ripped into the employees in public when ever something went wrong
    quit after 3 months
I worked for someone who brought you in their office and discussed it when things went wrong
    was there for 21 years

I know which method I think is better for motivating people

I don't know about that. I said he was NOT a great coach and you said "I dunno" which infers you don't agree with my sentiment. Logically, if you don't agree with the sentiment, then you are saying Haley was a great HC. He got canned for a reason and is still a coordinator for a reason.

here's one for the Tomlin haters: Bill Belichick could go 0-16 and still have a better career regular season winning percentage than Tomlin since 2011. The breakeven point is actually close to two seasons of 0-16 for BB.

He is still a coordinator because he knows that I would have a complete midlife crisis if he left me right now. I need him in my life. He is my knight in shining armor. My Haley fanboy mancrush runs deeper than my Brady one. LOL!

It's fun for us as fans to watch a player get ripped because it's like we're living vicariously through the coach but I don't know if it's the most productive thing or not. I'm not against a guy getting his butt chewed though. I'm just saying I don't know if it "works" as much as we think it might. Probably just depends on the player. We at least know that Bradshaw couldn't stand Noll because of it. He literally said it on A Football Life.

My bad. I was trying to respond to the idea that he couldn't be a HC. You had responded to Heinz's statement, "I can't believe teams are not interested in these coaches."

You'd better believe if the Steelers go deep this post-season, Haley will get another look. I do think he is very bit Bruce Arians's equal.

I know it isn't. I kept up just fine: you responded to Heinz, though, and suggested a disagreement in that Haley is not HC material. I am disagreeing with you on that point, not whether or not Haley was a great HC.

Great coordinator but crappy HC? Sounds like Haley would be a perfect fit for the Chargers!

Getting back to the discussion on Tomlin, I am admittedly not a big fan of his. That being said, I think that the team has really shown me something the last two weeks. At halftime of both the Bengals and Ravens games, I thought for sure the Steelers would lose. But it seemed to me as though the team actually made some adjustments as the games progressed. With the talent on this team, and a coaching staff that's willing to exploit what they see, I feel this team could run the table.

Question how long have Belicheat been coaching Pats. Long before Tomlin, therefore he owned Bill too. I read this and that about Tomlin, which is the same bs that was going on about Bill. I am sure the same bs was going on about Chuck. My point is this as fans it's unrealistic goals. I go play lotto every day and hope to win but I don't, it's call life gamble. Look at the Brown's, Raiders, Miami and a host of other higher up that listen to their fans and had 20 coach in 22 yrs., why is this? Ownership really don't believe in who they hire and do not give a coach time to change the talent. If they have talent he or they has to learn new system every year, which is a set back. Lastly I thank the Rooney for believing in our coaches to give us a fair chance even if we do not make playoffs. It's a stable system or you will not have three 100 win coaches and three coach over 75 years, and six superbowls with a great chance for seven.
