A injury loss dealing with our leader may just be what the doctor ordered.

I hate to say this but this may not be a BAD thing with our leader out for a while. Everyone will bet against us for sure now and this is when the Steelers normally kick ass. Don’t get me wrong, I’ll be glad when number 7 returns but for now, I’m going to enjoy watching our boys become tighter as a team and whoop some BUTT! Watch out Ravens!

I couldn't disagree more. There is nothing good about Ben potentially missing time.

I think it's funny that people say the Steelers play better when everyone else is betting against us. I'd like to see stats that prove it because I don't buy it for a second.

    I agree.

But I do have faith in this team that they can put together a game plan and have the personel to be able to A) beat Cleveland and B) win 1 of 2 from Baltimore.

All I know is that to lose 3 straight against two of the teams we despise so much will be almost unbearable. I just hope we can find a way to win. You know the clowns and rats are gonna be thinking they've accomplished something if they beat Byron Leftwich. LOL. That's how lame they are.

If Lefty can lern to sink and dunk in a week then the Ratz might be in trouble but beside... I have a feeling that Big B will not miss this game

Curiously, it looks like one of the betting houses had the Steelers as a 3.5 point favorite (now it looks like some have flipped to about 1 point for the Ravens), so it doesn't exactly look like conventional wisdom that Big Ben's absence = heavy betting against the Steelers. Given that the only +.500 team we play (based on today's records) is the Ravens going forward, I think there's still a lot of reason for optimism. It won't be easy, but has it been easy even with Ben IN the lineup????

I agree that it is never good to lose Ben but Im afraid we lose 2 out of the next three if Ben doesnt play

If dink and dunk is gonna be the game plan (which I am OK with) then we better hope Charlie is our QB while Ben is out. Byron has no touch pass. It's all throw as hard as he can.

Lefty is the backup and unless something happens to him over the next 5 days (or Ben's injury really isn't as bad as they are saying), I can't see why he wouldn't be playing on Sunday.

This site had the Steelers a 3.5 favorite before the injury. Now they are a 2.5 dog. Thats a 6 point swing in the betting line.

i can... because charlie won 3 of 4 games he stated when ben was suspended and had the D stopped the ravens 95 yard to win the game in the closing minutes... charlie would have been 4-0... and lefty has no touch for the dink and dunk

If I remember correctly, Batch played 2 and a half games, Dixon was taken out in Tenn and played ATL the week before, Batch started against Tampa and the Ratz

And of course Dixon was grabbed up by the Ravens as soon as they could.

There is no positive for our offense whatsoever in losing Ben. Lefty has limitations, which is the reason he isn't a starter but backup, but unlike Batch he can throw the ball on the outs and slants. The dump off stuff I worry about.

The D I do think gets some potential benefit, although from a weird perspective. The D must now have that "we must win the games" mentality. If they can find this, they will raise their games. If they can maintain that level, a level they may not have found without Ben's injury, then potentially we could have a better D and Ben back together at some point. Yes, there are some "IFS" in this scenario, but you never know.

I think Lefty will still start, but agree that Batch has better touch on the ball. I'm not sure that at this stage in his career Lefty will develop any new habits, good or bad.
