So, the Steelers are always an emotional game to watch, and I feel drained after every game. This is enlarged by a power of 10 when it is a Ravens game.

However, today was different. My mom passed away last night. She was 89 years old, had battled a bunch of serious health issues for the past 12 years, and it wasn't unexpected.

My mom was never a football fan, but she indulged my fandom in many ways over the years. She bought me a pennant- still hanging on my wall- the electric football game with SB IX in it, and a Franco Harris jersey from the Sears catalog for Xmas in 1975. And this was only the beginning. She pretended not to notice when I snuck the portable tv into my room to watch the Steelers on MNF past my bedtime. I can remember her support for me when the dynasty ended in 1980, and when she surprised me with McDonalds after a tough playoff loss to the Raiders in 1983. And on and on, and on, right up to recent years.

And so today, when we needed to win and I needed to win- we did. Thanks Mom.

    Very sorry for your loss.

My football companion always my father and he passed last Christmas Eve. This season I haven't watched a full game because we always texted or talked on the phone while we watched together from several states away. It's been an adjustment that I haven't made yet.

Your mom sounds like a very patient and loving mother to you. I know you will miss her and grieve for her in your own way and in your own time. My belief is it is not goodbye forever. We do meet again.

Thank you, yes my Dad was very fortunate to have been healthy
Up until the last couple years. And even then he still got around.
