Who would win? The thread about the all-time Steelers team made me ponder this. I was able to list every player from the 70's from memory. I had to look up some players from the rest. Here's my list:

    QB - Bradshaw* Roethlisberger**
    FB - Harris* J. Williams
    HB - Bleier Bettis*
    WR- Swann*, Stallworth* Brown**, Ward
    TE- Cunningham Miller
    T- Kolb, L. Brown M. Smith, Ilkin
G - Davis, Mullins Faneca**, DeCastro
    C - Webster* Dawson*

DE- Greenwood, White A. Smith, Keisel
    DT- Greene*, Holmes Hampton, Stautner*
    OLBs- Ham*, Russell Harrison, Lloyd
    MLB - Lambert* Farrior, Kirkland
CB- Blount*, Thomas Woodson*, I. Taylor
S- Wagner, Shell Polamalu**, Lake, J Butler*

    *HOF **Probable HOF

Nine HOFers on each team. Many positions are close to equal. I give Miller the edge at TE; Faneca and DeCastro the edge at guard; Lambert at MLB; and the safeties to Polamalu and Butler.

The Best of the Rest has a bigger pool to draw from, but I could see Blount shutting down AB and the 70's run defense stopping Bettis, but Faneca, DeCastro, and Dawson might create some running room.

This would be a fun game to watch.

    1970s team. AINEC.

Those teams had an unthinkably colossal level of talent that, even great teams like the Cowboys of the 1990s would be very concerned about.

The modern Steelers team has some great players that can make a great team but the Steelers of the 1970s are consistently reputed as the greatest dynasty ever for a reason. Way too much talent on both sides of the ball for any dynasty, before or since, to overcome.
