So, IF Harrison plays this weekend how nuch of an impact do we think he will have? I am not sure how he will be on the field for mnore than 15 plays due to the fact his fitness has to be wwwaaayyy off from where it needs to be. If he could not work out and run how am I to believe he will be a force?

I think just being who he is forces other teams to take notice and adjust ....having said that, I wonder if his "reputation" is more of a factor than his actual play on the field? I hope he comes out and is the James of old but I am not sure that will happen. Either way, I am happy to have him back! :clapping:

He is a workout warrior...his fitness will be fine....for a normal rotation IMO.....Im less worried about his cardio in the 4th Q...than I am his knee in the 4th Q.

I think he helps if for no other reason than he will draw some extra attention until they decide they don't need to give him extra attention.

Well, Leon Searcy was great, but he did leave. Same with Kendall Gammon. We also picked up Levon Kirkland in the 2nd round, which speaks for itself, and Joel Steed. So overall, the '92 draft probably did have a fair impact.

    Oh, wait, hang on...

I think he'll have a positive impact, either directly, or indirectly due to the offensive attention he requires. Hopefully, his knee won't have any setbacks.

it's not like he's on the casey hampton off season training regiment, dounuts and grape kool-aide. i just hope james doesn't have to take it 99 yds. to the house, on all those 15 plays.

james, mendy, troy, sylvester playing we are a much stronger team. if you don't think we are you are foolish and every other team in the league would love to have them. ok, maybe not sly but soon he will make a difference. i think he'll suprise some people but only if he sees the field. so far our coaches won't put the young talent in the game for more then a few plays.

You know, I doubt we see a lot of Sly this year outside of special teams. Foote has been playing pretty well. In fact, for Larry Foote, he's been playing very well. I came down on him pretty hard in my 2011 evaluations, and although I thought he sucked for most of the year, he did have a couple good games. It's interesting to note that his best games were the ones where Farrior was out ahead of time, and Foote knew he'd be the starter in advance. When he had to step in due to injury, or when he was just spelling James to keep him fresh, that's when he was at his worst. That was really frustrating, because all he had to do was try and not stink up the joint for one or two series per game, and he couldn't even manage to do that. Maybe he's just the type to need the 1st team reps, or maybe it's a mental preparation thing. But for whatever reason he's a different guy when he's "the guy" than he is when he just needs to not stink it up for a single drive.

So I don't see Sly getting in at all unless there's an injury. But I agree that with Troy, James, and Mendenhall, we are a significantly better team. Shoot, if any one of those three guys had been playing against Oakland, we probably would have won.

foote has made some tackles. he's also not done alot of things too, or is still inadequate at doing alot of things , so i'm not going to anoint him as the best thing since sliced bread yet. it's been 3 games,2 of which we lost because of defense. foote may not be quite as old in years but he's got alot of seasons on him. we have to look towards some youth, so i think they'd be crazy not to put sly in the game on defense. sly got through the line during preseason, getting a little more under control when he does it will come with field time. foote still gets caught in the wash like he always did. he takes bad angles to the ball and still can't make a stop in the hole with a rb coming at him. he's dropped alot of weight if you haven't noticed to be able to get around. i think he got to light. he's playing the best on a really bad defense right now, and that's not where we need to be. it's not scheme, it's talent that we are lacking on the O-line and defense. it has to change or we are in deep doo.

Well to be fair he has been asked to play thefarrior role and just blitz and go after the ball and only covering when needed. Thats what sucks about spence going down he could do the coverage and timmons go wild. Thats what he is built for and when farrior could still cover and timmons could just attack he was destroying people.

this was where i thought brandon johnson would help us out the most. pass coverage. i agree we need an attack dog in the middle. i have mentioned bringing worilds inside to do that. i think he would be ideal in that situation. at least pressure in the face of qb's. if harrison is back or even if he isn't we need our better talent on the field.

We just need someone, anyone, to pressure the QB. I don't care if the person gets to the QB and tells him a story. It would just be nice to see someone get back to the QB and not held up at the line. I still think that if we had the right people Timmons could create problems by pressuring the QB. I don't think we have the right people for him to be let loose and I know it is not something he is being asked to do. If he could, I believe (and it is only my opinion), that he would be the LB that people had hoped he would be. I know there are some folk out there that think Timmons is a bust and I can understand your point of view, I'm only expressing my opinion!

Watch the intensity go way up! I have to really question wether he will be in game
shape, his timing will be off, but hey, he can't be any worse then what we have put out there so far.
Time to get back into things Silverback, LIKE COWHER USE TO TELL LLOYD, GET THE QB.

I expect him to by rusty but can it be any worse? What is our D ranked? We've been shredded for 2 weeks and the only reason it wasn't all 3 weeks was because Stinkchez and the Jets are the worst team in the league. I'll take Harrison playing 75% with his timing off and being rusty at this point. I expect the D to tighten up a lot this week. But they better be on the lookout for Vick to run a lot this week.

you and i are pretty much on the same page jim. the steelers tried a sample of what i'm discribing the last couple of years. they have brought JH and woodley up the middle but did it very sparingly. does anyone remember the play harrison just drove an offensive lineman back into the qb like he wasen't even there up the middle? i think if worilds could move there, it would give us a 3 headed monster. woodley and harrison from the outside and worilds 265 lbs. crashing the middle into his face. this would really clog the pocket for vick.

MV is alot like ben, it takes them a second to read whats happening during the play. this makes it even tougher on them seeing and reading downfield. there is one thing about vick though, he can run, so our DE's will have to play disiplined to protect the running lanes. mclendon would also help more than casey against him running the middle and let our LB'ers do their thing. if mccoy has to stay and help block it takes a big chunk of offense away from philly. bottling up vick in the pocket to have to make a quick read takes away that much more.

coming in on Vick, not under control, bad angles, can be costly.Vick still has the moves and the speed to take it to the house on every play. JH has to watch his containment.
