I seen Saunders out there with the 3rd stringers so i guess this guy falling down the charts. Any news on him?

 

I haven't heard much, but with his suspension looming after the end of the preseason, maybe they are giving the other guys a few looks with a better offense. But I dont know, Im just throwing that out there.

I have no idea what Saunders contract situation is, but judging by what I have seen him actually do on the field I would expect the next time we see him after September 9 will be next pre-season. (Barring any injuries to the rest of the TEs) He hasn't really impressed with his play. He has been noticed for his size, speed, potential, but not for game performance. Obviously Miller will be in there with Pope and maybe Paulson. Will Johnson will line up in the FB position instead of a converted TE and he also seems to be able to move out and fill the TE position when needed.
The four game suspension combined with the fact that he just isn't a great player will cause Saunders to become an afterthought this season. Better luck next year Weslye.

 

i think they just want a better look at pope and pellele (sp?). if they keep either one they would have to pay them all year. saunders is a good receiver and a good blocker. i think he's back. i think it may be paulson and mccoy until he's back. heath doesn't have a catch yet this year.

the addition of ford and a nice showing, may have added another twist to the numbers i think. can he lead block? willj can block and slip out as a FB but still block and catch as a TE.

 

Just like someone else said Heath hasnt had a catch during the preseason. They know what they have in him. And I think the same with Saunders...they like him...he isnt going anywhere. Other guys need work/etc and they are working on them during the games. Especially since he'll be gone the first 4 games (as of now).

 

Speaking of Pope... I thought he blocked really well and heard Collinsworth mention this as well. He wasn't know for his blocking in KC but as Collisworth said, "Must come with putting on the Black and Gold".
