The defenses will stack the box until QBs prove they can throw the ball down the middle of the field. If the Steelers get Aiyuk, I will re-visit.

How can you predict the Steelers will have 4600 passing yards and only an 8-9 record? If the Steelers pass for 4600 yards that means they traded for Aiyuk and have 2 1,000 yard receivers, plus their TEs with another 1,000 yards, their 3rd WR 500 yards, their RBs with 500 yards, and Calvin Austin III with his 150 yards. That would be an excellent passing game, with a solid running game, and adequate defense.

Remember how many games they won with Big Ben passing over 350 yards? Not many.

 

I always found this interesting. #2 in total career passing yards is Drew Brees with 80,000+ and 1 SB in 20 years. The idiot #1 guy has 9000 more yards and 7 SB's in 23 years. What I take from that is you can have amazing passing games and still not go to the show.

BTW, our old guy is #5 on the list.

 

Well including playoffs for Ben's career he was 20-18 in games he threw over 350 yards. This is a 53% win percentage and he had a career 67% win percentage, so yeah it is less. Now, granted the games he played and was forced to throw over 350 yards were against better teams (in the playoffs, vs good teams, Pats, Ravens, etc.) so you would expect a lower percentage of wins strictly off the fact that you win less games against good teams than against bad teams. Also, sometimes games where you are losing by a lot early tend to lead to high passing yard games that you have to come back in. These are very low win percentage games as well, so that is likely to drag that win percentage down drastically. Just something to think about.
