So , tomorrow by 4:00 PM is cutdown day...My question is this...

The Steelers generally make a move or 2, as do most teams...I was always curious as to how it all comes together, with so many teams, and so many moving parts..

Example: Steelers want say, 3 players from other teams that are cut...Maybe other teams want 1 or more of these same players...plus the 4:00 deadline thing...

How do you make your cuts, and maybe grab a player or 2 , yet they aren't even cut yet...and, there's no certainty you'll get said player anyhow and...

Say your targeting a player or 2, and make your cuts accordingly, and then don't get them...I was just always intrigued on how all this maneuvering takes place...

    Anyone know? Thanks

You have it set to 53 and then marks next who you would let go if you signed a player off who to let go.

No Watt huh? And Hamilcar Rashed started, you think they take Scott in front of him?

Also that last WR is gonna be a toughie... I'm thinking Boykin...Then they can try an stash Sims/ Vaughns

rashad and scott will be a toughie. both played pretty well.

they may keep boykin but i think he, watt and mason could be a nice package to trade and gives them a chance somewhere else to start.

vaughns has shown up big for us throughout. now they may put austin on ir and keep boykin for now.

heyward could go to the PS i think. he's been up and down and i'm not sure he's ready for primetime yet. they may fudge a few guys around for IR at this point.

They might look to other team’s cuts for the last OLB spot as well and PS both Scott and Rashed.

I’m not sure a WR that hasn’t caught on anywhere, an often injured FB who is mainly a STer, and a career back up QB is that sweet of a trade package. Bunch of scraps basically. Individually Mason is the only one that might return a pick, and that’s just because of the position he plays. Watt and Boykin either make the team or get cut.

Vaughns has played well. So has Boykin. Gonna boil down to who the coaching staff likes better. Certainly a tough decision.

Heyward isn’t going to the PS. If he does, you can pretty much guarantee he is gone. He has shown too much to not make the team. He might be a good candidate for game day inactive early in the season as he continues to learn, but I highly doubt he sees the door.

I think Boykin is kept. He also gives them great ST. A 2 for 1 deal is really important for the fringe guys.
I don't really remember Vaughan at all on ST...I could be wrong about that though.

I agree here. Might actually be able to get something for Claypool. Could be a risky move, but if we are able to get a starting caliber lineman…. Would you consider it worth it? Potentially. Gotta give to get

    Sure

Between the down year he had last year and 1/1 catches/injuries ratio this preseason I bet teams will be lining up to trade

Generally you would look for teams with a specific strong area you lack..hint OL..then see if they had to cut someone who looks promising...nearly anyone other than we have lol. Problem I see is other teams in the same boat. Dallas and Tampa come to mind...injuries have decimated their lines. Like you Saud there may be a vet worth kicking the tires on, or signing another cut, but I can't remember the last time there was someone that made a significant dent. Maybe the late season pick up of Mike Hilton. Last couple of years late trade for Ilb has been disappointing.

Mac is probably crying in his beer since sternberger has been cut. Also cut Stephens and Carter.

there will be more than one team that bets on his rookie year and makes excuses for his second (bad offense, old ben, etc.). Lots of teams need WR and Claypool his 6'4'' 235lbs and fast. He's not much different than Christian Kirk stat wise on average and that guys just signed a 4 year 72 million dollar contract. I've been a detractor of Claypool, but yeah there would be multiple teams interested in a trade for Chase Claypool if he became available.

Far more. No one is giving anything up for Bush and Mason might get a mid/late-ish pick. Claypool is about the only asset that we have that we can truly part with that would fetch us a playable offensive lineman if we went that route.
