Should we really feel great about this?

...5000 yards in a lost season.

One of the things that worried me about Fichtner becoming our OC is he will not reign in the offense if Ben gets too pass happy. It is the same thing that is going on in Green Bay right now. If your hubris doesn't allow you to see that you need to remain balanced then you got issues.

Ravens won the division running the ball, and playing old-school defense with a nose tackle.

Steelers need to get back to their roots. Run the ball and play-action passes.

Agree with most of this post. Just don't see the run/playaction with Ben, he likes it about as much as he liked Haley.

If you throw 5000 passes, you'll probably throw for 5000 yds. Ben led the lead in passes thrown by a large margin, so the yds and TDs 'look' high. But look at rating, % comp,yd/att, %TDs, % INT , these are better than average but not by a lot.

    Yep.

Quarterbacks, namely Drew Brees, who post such numbers do not have good seasons. Then again, going away from the running game in the form of the Jacksonville Game to the Oakland game did not assist. Given the fact that Ben wanted more control of the offense, he seemingly got what he wanted.

Pittsburgh ultimately paid the price for it given the aspect that he lead the league in interceptions.

We didn’t make the playoffs and a big part of that was his inconsistency.

Yes and no, I guess? It’s impressive, and even though people argue otherwise, he’s been pretty damn good this year. But he throw for that many yards is not good for the team. We need to run... we have the line to be a top-10 running team. It cost us the season.

I didnt look up the stats, but it seems like a couple of the times Brees did it, the saints missed the playoffs also.

Please less bubble screens for 2 yds positive or negative doesn't really matter does it. Unless they change the rules to 6 downs.

Fun fact. #7 is the 7th QB to hit the 5000 yd mark. While I don't agree with the pass happy season, which is also why Ben led the league in interceptions. We live and die with #7. I hate it when he is bad Ben but I'm also afraid when he retires cause good Ben is the best.

They would be better off with someone less spectacular who doesn’t turn the ball over. 5,000 yards are great but his INTs helped doom the season.

They should because turnovers lose games. There may not be a statistic that influences the out come of games more than turnover deferential.

Those picks are probably why they don’t have one or two more Super Bowl appearances under their belts.

I guess you have to take the bad with the good with Ben but it seems he could still do great things while incorporating a little more discipline now and then.

Most of his picks aren’t the result of trying to force a ball into a tight space. They are just idiotic throws that never should be made. They aren’t gambles. They are just bad reads and stupid decisions. That is inexcusable.

They'd be in the same place - out of the playoffs but with a much better position to address their weaknesses.

Some just make more or ones that are more crushing.

It's what separates the truly great from the just pretty good.

Ben has been better than pretty good but the INTs, to me, are always what has kept him a notch below the best of the best of the best.

Mahomes went over 5,000 yards today too and has a comparable amount of attempts and yet KC is going to the playoffs.

They are very similar teams, both loaded on offense and porous defense.

The difference? Mahomes threw for 15 more TD's and 7 less Int (prior to todays games).

Think about that, a rookie threw for a lot more TD's and made fewer mistakes than a seasoned vet.

I still appreciate the heck out of Ben. He just needs to play smarter but at this point, what you see is what you get.
