Does the Zambelli(sp?) family still put on a fireworks show on the 4th, near the stadium, where the 3 rivers come together?
I have heard about it in the past, and have always wanted to go.
I am considering going this year. Should have the time and money to get a hotel somewhere fairly close for the night.
So far, from looking at the Steelers site, and a couple others, I just looked at quickly, it looks like there is a "regatta", in the area, with boatraces, and sandsculptures, in the vicinity, and Heinz Field is hosting a concert/event, where they will open up the ramps of the stadium, to watch the fireworks, but it doesn`t mention anything about the show being put on by the Zambelli Co./Family?
In fact, it sounds like it is put on by a completely seperate entity.
Does anyone know if the show is still done by them, and/or have any suggestions for where to stay, best events to take in, in the area?
I am a huge fan of fireworks/ Fourth of July celebrations, and the Steelers, and I always thought it would be AWESOME to see the show that the Zambelli Bros. put on, with the fireworks reflecting off the point, where the Three Rivers come together.
I may be spelling the name wrong, but I know they are a world-famous fireworks Co, that is/was based in Pittsburgh, and the location, would make for a beautiful display.
Any tips, or help with what I should Google/web search for info, would be appreciated.
(I am not the most web-savvy guy in the world ;) )
A couple summers ago, I took a vacation to Hershey park, from N.E. Ohio, and on the way back, we kayaked from under the Roberto Clemente Bridge, past Heinz Field, to the confluence of the rivers, and back.
After that, we rode the Duquesne(sp, again?) incline, up the slope, and looked down on the city(what a view!!!), and it struck me, that, that would be an AWESOME viewpoint for the fireworks show.
I am guessing that is probably ridiculously crowded, but is there somewhere close, that would offer a similar view?
Any help/ideas/thoughts/suggestions would be greatly appreciated,
    Thanx, Bleed. :yeehaw:
    (edit...)...
    P.s.
    WOW!!! :rawk:  :herewego: ...
I just found a youtube clip from last year`s show, that had my jaw literally hitting the floor!!!
That show, made the best of the ones I have seen around here, look like a kid twirling a sparkler around! :applaud:
I have GOT to see that live!!!
Unfortunately, when I have tried to search on the Tribune, or Post-Gazette, or CBS Pittsburgh, they are all bringing up stories from LAST year...
And, when I tried to check the Zambelli`s home page, I couldn`t find an upcoming schedule, without joining "Facebook", and I just won`t do that, outta personal paranoia/principle, whatever.
`Whole `nother topic, but, why can`t I just find info out, about a whole lotta companies, without registering for Facebook, first?!?!.. to access their info?!?
What happened to just plain and simple home pages for large corporations/businesses, that didn`t require you to log onto Facebook, to get basic info?!?!? :frustrated:  :swordsman: :bscow:
Regardless, watching that clip I found, while looking for a schedule to this year`s show, makes me more determined than ever, to see that live! :good: :dancing:
I would just prefer to see it from a vantage point above the city, and stay at a cheaper hotel, away from all the traffic.
    GO STEELERS! :towel:

Bleedsteel, if you watched a video from last year's fireworks, you saw the kind of show this new group now puts on. The fireworks will take place on the three rivers at "the point" and, besides all the people along the shores, there will be people on the hillsides and hilltops -- in fact at every standing or sitting viewpoint. Awesome night, treat yourself to it if you love fireworks.

    Thanx for the advice, Grannie...
I have been hit with a couple unexpected car repairs, recently, and, between fixing them, and being busy, in general, I haven`t taken the time to search for a cheap hotel in a neighborhood close to the top of the incline.
I could probably still make a one nite trip, and stay at a cheap hotel, in the area, if there are any.
Also, my girlfriend, who up until last month, had a steady work schedule, got stuck working random shifts, and was told, she may not get vacation days that she had previously scheduled, and been approved for.
So, I`m not sure I will get there this year. I still want to, very badly, but, sometimes, I have to be financially responsible, and not indulge in every desire that I would like to....
At least, that`s what I`m telling myself, right now. ;) ....
I haven`t completely ruled out, putting it on a credit card, and telling the gf, "Come on, it`ll be worth it!"..."Screw that store!"...
As is, I`m thinking I will just have to settle for blowing up a couple fireworks here, and waiting till next year, to see the show in the Burgh.
I`m tired of "waiting for next year", tho... Makes me feel like a Damn Clown`s fan!!! :frustrated:   :yeehaw:
