I don't like it. I think it favors teams with elite QB's like Mahomes and Burrow. They probably have at least a 50-50 chance of making it. Plus it gives the refs too much control to throw a flag for defensive holding and give the offense an automatic first down. I can see this scenario happening, the Steelers lead the Bengals 30-21 with 17 seconds left in the game. The Bengals score a TD to make the score 30-28 with 10 seconds left. They pick the option to go for the 4th and 15. Burrow throws deep to Chase and it is batted away but a ticky tack PI is called against the Steelers. The Bengals kick the FG and win 31-30. Nope I don't like it.

Joe Flacco can make a comeback as an “4th and 15 DPI specialist”

Only thing I can see that would be fair that if their is a PI called, then it should only be a 5 yard penalty without an automatic 1stdown to make it a 4th and 10

I think maybe a onside kick would be easier.

And what fun is that? All it takes a 5 yard defensive holding penalty for a 1st down. They should do away with all penalties on the defense. Now THAT would be fun!

This is the dumbest thing I have ever heard. That is so much easier than an onside kick.

Steelers give up 1st downs on 15 or more yards like they are giving out candy.

No, this is a stupid idea of 4th and 15.

But, they need to rollback one of the kickoff rules.
    1) Allow the players at kickoff to get a running start as long as they don't cross the line.
    or
    2) Allow teams to load up on one side of the field.

I just don't buy the idea that there were that many injuries on onside kicks.

That was my thought too arguing with friends. They kept on saying injuries on kickoffs and i said how many on onside kicks? Id be fine with them declaring they're going to onside and getting a running start for onside only.

I actually could go with 4- 25....., but You need to be able to challenge a PI.

Even when they tried the challenge of PI, they didn't overturn many.

13 of 81 were successful. Even most of the clear ones were not overturned.

Mike Tomlin was on that rules committee.

I remembered when Tomlin challenged a PI Call for the reason the ball was uncatchable; the refs came back and announced that the call stands, but didn't address the fact that the ball was uncatchable. I remember watching Tomlin trying to explain to the ref that it couldn't be PI, because the ball was thrown to far over the receivers head. I thought he would have a case because he was on the damn committee that wrote the rule. New York said NO.

I don't think after that I ever saw a pass interference challenge based on the ball being uncatchable. Maybe the League sent out a memo to all coaches?

I know people don't watch XFL, but their official crews, and the way they do it ....is way better than the NFL.....,, and You almost always agree on the final outcome of the call....unlike the NFL.

Because you can hear them talking about it, so you know the reasoning behind making the call.

Tends to make you say I don't agree, but I see why they're making that determination.

I think the NFL didn’t want to have replay for pass interference. The one year they tried it they didn’t everything possible to screw it up. Inconsistent and insane calls no one ever agreed with the review regardless of the team you were rooting for. Someone that had zero knowledge of the game would have done a better job.

XFL is spot on in their whole way of officials calling the game. I have to hand it to them on that.
I never see stuff I totally disagree with like I do the NFL.
