An interesting stat from last night, Jacoby Brissett is like 30/31 in converting 3rd and 1 and 4th and 1. On several QB sneaks last night he gained more than 8 yards when he needed 6 inches. Is he just an unstoppable juggernaut when it comes to short yardage?

In contrast, why do we collectively clench our buttholes anytime we try to convert a 3rd and inches with a 230 pound power back in Najee?

3rd and 2 we pass it 40 yards down field. 3rd and 8 we throw 4 yard check downs. Your guess is as good as mine.

I don't know can you provide some stats this year as to how the Steelers are on 3rd or 4th and 1?

No idea why you are comparing Brisset to Najee?

We have a multitude of problems with roster and (Key injuries) I pray we don't
have any more injuries then we already have. Other than that, the Steelers will have
to keep their nose to the grindstone and keep working hard. We have talent to compete.
Players and coaches will have to pick up their games.

A couple of things here. First Jacoby has an easy Rte to the first down. Our DL lined up with the A Gaps wide open, even on 4th and inches… Why is the question because fundamental football says line up right to stop any qb sneaks when only inches is needed.

Brady was a master at this, call the play and at the LOS if there was a gap to exploit he’d tap the center to change it to QB sneak ( only he and the center knew of the change) which may be something Stefanski is utilizing.

Secondly is why we struggle. Plain and simple it’s coaching. Muth is a large target with great hands, our RBs including the FB has great hands, our QB is very mobile. We made many 1st downs and moved the ball well but on 3rd down the coaches get dumb and call stupid plays….!!!!

protection is why the plays are called like they are or were. with garrett over there we kept our TE in to help block for much of the game. we used one mainly. if he's blocking, he's not out on a pattern. if we used two TE's who do you take off the field? a WR? a RB? the RB was used in protection too many times. it should have given mitch time to look around longer but he doesn't. if he's going to make quick throws anyway, we should send the most receivers out into the patterns. make the defense have to cover more area or spots on the field. we also have to throw to those spots. we go into games with what seems like one mindset and if it's not successful we don't change it. after 17 targets in the first two weeks, he was targeted 4 times against the browns. i think they need to take DJ off the field on those 3rd and shorts and put the big bodies out there. claypool, boykin or pickens, muth and gentry. mitch won't make DJ his first and only read on those. mix it up.
