Really???? What a bad call in a big game, rarely gets called on short yardage, and kept his hands inside his shoulders. At least it was in the hole and not completely away from the play, but still didn't like the call...that's the difference between Giants going down for a halftime score and NE going in at the half up 1.

There were a couple surprisingly bad calls tonight, but the Patriots lost and balance has been restored to the universe. :lolol:

I thought it was.... maybe holding. I can see why they threw the flag, but I could also see why they wouldn't. It wasn't that bad. But as much as I hated that play, I didn't hate the refs for it. I hated the LG Boothe.

WHO HOLDS ON THIRD AND INCHES??? It's INCHES!!! YOU NEED INCHES!!!!!!! Even if he'd totally blown the block, which he hadn't, Jacobs wouldn't have even met the guy until he was right at the sticks, and he would have powered through. It was so, so unnecessary, and I believe would have cost them the game. They were absolutely rolling until that moment, and that's what gave NE the momentum they needed to get back to back TDs.

The only real bad call all night was the no-call on the PI by Sterling Moore. Clearly PI and a game-changer. I was furious. But overall, a well-officiated game. I'm glad they had the guts to call grounding on Brady, which was 100% the right call, but would have gone unnoticed by everyone who has a tv show.

I don't know man. That was surely a phantom hold to me. I watch OL/DL the closest during games, just because where my peewee experience (LOL) was (T, TE, DE - and only TE because we didn't pass to TE's, but for blocking). That was about as innocuous as it gets from a "holding" standpoint. There are litterally dozens of worse "holding" non-calls during every pro game. I agree with you that the OL needs to be very cognizant of holding at that point. That wilfork is one massive mountain of a man! I didn't look it up, but Wilfork looks more massive than your boy Snack.

Pfft, he wishes! I'll have you know my boy is up to 550 lbs. He needs to keep his weight up while he rehabs his knee. Don't want him wasting away now!

I've watched it a bunch more times, and I still can see what they saw, but I wouldn't have called it. I think it was Wilfork's spin move that got him the call. They thought Boothe spun him. One of those "maybe technically" holds that could be called any given play. But when you're right at the point of attack on 3rd and inches, they will be looking more closely at you.

I'm watching NFL Networks Mic'd up and they focused on that play. There was a good debate among the refs when he called it. Another ref came in and tried to talk him out of it. Said that he spun off of the block. The ref who called it said no. So after they asked Wilfork himself. Vince laughed and said that yeah, it was a bad call. That he wasn't held.
