If anybody saw that 30 for 30 last night with parcells and bellichick and anybody tell me that tomlin is a real coach. Bradshaw is right, tomlin is a cheerleader. The game plan they came up with for the kgun and bills was incredible. Bellichik said " dont worry about thurmon thomas , I dont care if he gets 300 yds, they are still gonna have 3rd and 3 situations and that is where we are gonna stop them" They play 6 dbs and they stopped there receivers when they had too.

I didn't see it - what did Tomlin do in it? Did they show his process in direct comparison? Was there much in the way of in-depth retrospective on Tomlin's coaching?

Because if there wasn't, I'm not sure how else I'd be able to answer your question. It would be like watching a programme detailing Julio Jones' practice regime, and then assuming that, because I haven't seen a programme on AB's regime, he must not be a real receiver.

No Tomlin was not in it. He just says stuff like " we are gonna unleash hell" and " we are suppose to win it all" and lets go in and play zone once again against tom brady in the afc championship and lets get picked apart. That is what tomlin does.

That's what he says in press conferences. I imagine there's a bit more to his team meetings. I could be wrong, of course, but I don't know, and neither do you.

If you want to compare press sound-bites to a programme providing a fairly in-depth analysis of a gameplan which is now in the Hall of Fame, it's fairly obvious that one will look better than the other.

He did get filmed on fb live thanks to ab.. And what he says in press conferences reflects his team' actions and play on the field. Not only was he looking forward to be but so was MOST( Not the whole team)of the team instead of taking each game week by week.

That was his post-game team talk. Again: does that compare to what the 30 for 30 programme was about/covered?

I'm struggling to get my head around the premise of this thread.

In simple friggin terms so you could understand--------------- He is not nowhere on any level of a great coach. There maybe a 30 for 30 program about him someday, on about how he is an idiot not a 30 for 30 on how he is a coaching genius.

Do you understand that, or do you need a tudor to explain it to you??

Thats easy, another TOMLIN SUCKS thread! Oh goody.

Ive seen documentaries on Bellichick. He borders on obsessive compulsive on his prep work. Probably a safe bet that NO COACH in the league prepares like he does.

But, like you said, I havent seen any films like that about Tomlin so

I think Pederson may do it. No way he changed an entire offense to make Nick foles successful midseason without doing that.

Hes doing a great job, wouldnt surprise me.

Should be up for coach of the year for having his team in the SB after losing the starting QB. He was doing a bang up job before losing Wentz too.

Or Sean McVay, great job with that team.

And tomlin doesn't suck. He's a solid coach but he's not the guy that can take this team over the hump. They need a Doug Pederson and a jim Schwartz coaching the defense.

I get what the OP is saying. You watch the 30 for 30 and Belichick and Parcells look like geniuses compared to Tomlin. But let me ask you this. If Scott Norwood makes that kick is anyone calling Belichick a genius? No. They would be saying how stupid it was to let an opposing teams running back run all over you as a game plan. Winning and losing almost always comes down to a play or two. If you make those plays you are a hero if you don't you are an ass. It's no different at any level of sports. I've done a lot of coaching in my day and know this all to well.

Yeah, the problem is that you're missing the bit where you explain how the 30 for 30 programme is evidence that Tomlin sucks.

However! I have found a tudor, so he may be able to explain it better.

Every one was an Henry! I don't think he'll help here, though. This is a job for someone lower on the feudal food chain, who doesn't mind getting their hands dirty. A knight perhaps. Either way, I'll take a stab at it...

I'm not going to pick at the very delicious low hanging fruit here, so I'll go for the higher, more nutritional prize. I think it's pretty ironic that as much as you infer or outright call someone stupid, you can't understand the obvious tone of this forum, and what constitutes acceptable posting behavior. Here is just a small recent sample for reference~

I missed one of those the other day, because it was hidden due to too many down votes. Since I missed it, I'll give you a pass of sorts and just put you in timeout.

PSA: I'd say about 99% of the people here know how to have a civilized, respectful conversation without resorting to personal criticism, belittling, or other types of childish denigration. It's a trend I've noticed though, and one I strongly don't like. Don't be in that 1%, and don't make me make a public example out of you. Thanks and carry on with this thread that is about the Steelers I think?

And you think no other coach does this? I can throw up thousands of quotes from coaches who tried to inspire and still lost. Last I checked, MT has a winning record, so it would seem his words of inspiration work more often than not. I'm not debating whether he is a good coach or not because everyone has their own opinion, and they are welcome to it. However, if your going to make a point using the man's actions against him, at the least, be fair about it.

Ok, I replied without reading the entire thread. I was just about to comment on the "tudor" but will refrain now that I saw TTF's post. TTF, you are right, that is some extremely low hanging fruit, and yes, we are better than that. I forget sometimes! Maybe I need some tudoring :hmm:

Regular season winning record yes, post season winning record NO, as I said in another thread pitt fans are beyond regular season winning records they are just a means to an end, and that end is wining superbowls where we have failed under cowher and tomlin, 1 SB win each is not cutting it for me....

Didn't need a documentary to know Tomlin is a C- head coach. I have seen every Mike Tomlin coached game. Every single one from 60 minutes to 0 minutes, and he is not a good coach. Never was, never will be. We have talked about why at nauseam so I'll leave it at that.

Finally got to watch and two things stood out to me:
    1) in 1986, the Giants played 3 play-off games and had 3 different defenses. They weren't stuck on one concept
    2) Giants typically played zone D with very little man to man. But then Bill said Montana will complete 100% of his passes vs. the zone. They switched to man and won 49-3

Both these subjects have caused a lot of angst among Steeler fans.
