Unless this team miraculously finds a BP
    Pirates aren’t going anywhere

Apparently they can be our best relievers while still munching equine testes.

His opening day game was ruined by Cruz's inept CF play. Excluding that game, Skenes' next 8 games resulted in:
49.1 IP (6.2 innings per start).
    21 hits (3.8 per 9 innings)
    6 ERs
    5 BBs
    55 Ks
    ERA 1.09
    W-L 6-1
    team W-L 6-2

But his most recent 4 games have resulted in:
    20.0 IP (5 per start)
    26 hits (11.7 per 9 innings)
    13 ERs
    6 BBs
    26 Ks
    ERA 5.85
    W-L 0-3
    team W-L 0-4

He was hurt again by poor fielding last night. But his ERA for the 3 games before that was still 5.87.

Not following it to close but I know the CBA expires end of this year. Of course the owners really want a salary cap and the MLB players union are dead set against one. Shocking, I know.;)

IMO a strike is coming. I heard some talking heads saying that owners of a MLB team would have to have a total payroll of at least 170 million. Right now only 15 of the 30 teams are above that. If that would happen I wouldn't be surprised if our beloved owner sells the team.

At the moment 5 of the bottom 10 teams in payroll are over .500. The 80 million Cleveland Indians are leading their division and are 9 games over .500. The 90 million Chicago White Sox are in hot pursuit. My favorite one is the 330 million dollar NY Mets sitting in last place and 8 games under .500.

    Jones pitches a nice game.

Now Bucs play next 6 against 2 best in NL.

They now almost look like genius' sending Mlod to the pen. He should relish the long reliever role just like yesterday. But pitching 4 relief innings every day is not the answer or possible. Jones had a great bounce back game on a short pitch limited leash but Keller and Skenes have to figure out how to keep their pitch counts down like Ashcraft seems to have mastered. The number of foul balls off Skenes is the good news and bad news in how it drives his count up so high so early in his games. Bubba is still a big question mark. Gotta like this O though and how great it's been having O'Hearn back in the lineup. Griffin hopefully almost in time for 1 or 2 of the Brooklyn Bums games. Gonzo is hitting well but his fielding at 3rd has been atrocious. Oh well 6 very tough games - hopefully they can break even. Finally, for a day your Bucs have the #1 Wild Card seat in the NL and 2nd place in the NLC. :drinks:
