As our battling Bucs start another exciting campaign we can post all the disappointment in this thread.

Pittsburgh sports is in a bad place. Penguins done for a long time, I'm guessing. Steelers are years away from being considered elite and then there are the Bucs:(

Put your prediction in for season record. I'll guess 77-85

Funny, the Bucs are winning 5-3 and losing 5-3 with both games in the bottom of the 7th. It's a sign I tell ya;)

    3peat at 76-86

2026, with Skenes and Chandler both fully in the starting rotation, should instigate offseason moves. Hopefully, they learn from mistakes made by the Mets recently.

I'm tired of trying to predict anything about this team. As a team they've sucked for a very long time minus the few playoff years where everyone else in their division sucked even more. Simply put, the MLB season is way too long for this market and ownership limited franchise. They have spurts of good play but can't carry it on for a whole season let alone should they ever make the playoffs again. I'm more focused on individuals and want to see guys like Skenes, Jones and Keller pitch to their abilities (throw in Bednar as well) and then for Reynolds, Cruz, Hayes put together solid seasons. They may have some unknowns make the roster like Gorski and Stewart. If these guys can put together solid seasons then possibly they could at least break .500 and move out of the basement ahead of the Reds and Cubs. Brewers will always be tough for Bucs to keep up with for some reason even though they have similar relatively small markets. Still a fan for life no matter what. With a split for the split squads today, Magic Number remains 162.

At least Bucs are consistent - they're 2-0 vs Baltimore this spring and 0-2 vs Atlanta. Throw in 2-0 against the Twins. Suwinski looks like he's trying to finally be someone but what kind of pitching is he facing so far? Gorski continues to hit for power and RBIs. I have no idea who he is but he's stepping up so far. Spring Training may be as good as it gets for this franchise.

Those lumber company boys killed the Twins today 12-1. Will they show no mercy this season? ;)

Let’s not leave the Pitt Panthers football and basketball programs out of this dismal conversation. Pittsburgh sports are officially at an all time low. Pirates will finish 72-90 at best but hey our PNC park sure is beautiful. I hear it every time I catch a game on ESPN. Bring on the fireworks and bobble heads.

Pitt suffers from TPS (Transfer Portal Syndrome) not to mention NIL envy. FB and BB are team sports and they can't put together a complete team. Adding a splash player here and there doesn't cut it. They just can't keep up with the major campus programs. I'd venture to guess that Marino, Fitzgerald, Aaron Donald and Dorsett would have been gone to greener pastures after 1 year if starting out at Pitt these days.

Couldn’t agree more. I told my son that the Transfer portal and the NIL are the end of small programs in college winning Championships. The impact is already immediately felt in the basketball program for the panthers. College sports has now become the new MLB. The Pirates have no chance and all that the owner is doing is milking out whatever profit he can get for a small market team. The guy sucks as an owner but he isn’t stupid.

I live vicariously in The Truman Show! LOL.

OK - who the heck are these Stewart (DH) and Gorski (1B) guys for the Bucs? Each just hit back to back homers in the top of the 9th against the Orioles. Gorski has been whacking it all Spring so far. Of course 9th innings in Spring ball are equivalent to Pony League play.

Edit: Dopey CBS Sports Game Tracker showed wrong batters. It was Griffin and Valdez with the homers, not Stewart and Gorski, apparently.

As Pittsburgh sports takes another hit (Pens lost and I assume Louisville kicks Pitt's ass tonight) those battling Bucs keep our honor with another pre-season win over Baltimore.

6-2 baby.:drinks: Leading the all important Grapefruit League;) The World ends like real soon we play the Cubs (they are 7-0 in the Cactus League) in the last ever World Series.:hehehe:

    Beat em Bucs!
