Regarding Saturday's game.....................

 

I should have never settled in this area. Was golfing today with two guys I'm going up with. We are trying to decide who is stuck driving. I wanted to let our golf match decide but they refused since I'm a little better. I can't believe I agreed to this but if the Pirates win tonight one of them has to drive and if we lose I have to risk my life and theirs. I did get a little justice. If I won the golf match they'd have to give me 2 runs plus I win ties. Thankfully I barely won but I got the BUCS +2 runs tonight.

Dear Pirates, I'm scared sh!tless to drive over the Walt Whitman bridge. Way I see it you owe me, so please please please win or lose by 2 or less tonight.

Just keep your eyes peeled for rogue cargo carrier vessels that have drunk captains at the helm. Other than that, you'll be fine.

 

Pirates are now 10-4, now a fractional game out of first place, actually with one more win than the Brewers. They got a good performance out of Bailey Falter tonight. I will take it, and I hope they keep hanging in until Skenes arrives.

And yet another sad trip to a baseball game. That is it for me. Last sporting event I attend in Philadelphia. Although my friend could get me a ticket to the Steeler game in Philly this year but I hated listening to the Philie fans so I sure the hell don't want to listen to the Eagle fans.

 

I jinxed you by referencing my way too often experience of Pirate walk off losses at Dodger Stadium spanning 5 decades. See, not only I, but KC and his Sunshine Band also asked you to Please Don't Go.

 

My frigging nephew is there and keeps sending me pictures. I so wish we went today.

Anyway, the BUCS still have not lost a series and splitting in Philly is all I asked for.

I rate the enjoyability of a trip to Philly right between a root canal and prepping for a colonoscopy. I worked there for two years in the late 80s and could not wait to get out. In fact, I spent the entire two years figuring out HOW to get out.

 

Well, he got the grand slam today, that is a start!

He threw only 55 pitches. He is still a ways off from being ready to go even five innings in a major-league game.

 

And "averaging" at or near or over 100mph will take it's toll, sooner than later no doubt. Other than the other worldly Nolan Ryan, longevity (in the more modern era) is associated with 37 mph flamers like Mike Maddox and Tim Wakefield.

Yes, and he had a long, if undistinguished, pitching career before becoming an outstanding pitching coach.

 

Actually it was Greg, not Mike whom I was remembering pitching forever and what seemed to be at a slo-pitch softball rate but was still very effective.
