The Chicago White Sox who have a higher payroll then our Bucs are going to set a record for worse team ever. I am saluting their fans. They did something I wish the Pirate fans would do, NOT SHOW UP! They had 17 fans the other night. I think they count the seats that were sold for season even if person does not go to the game. Actually ass in seats was 17. One has to wonder, how many concession stands were open:)

10 games under. Yeah team. So they are scoring a ton of runs and our pitchers are giving up more. Bucco baseball, gotta love it. I need 10-12 more wins. You can do it boys.

Well Shelton announced "wet the Bednar" is done being our closer. Big deal, our season is over. No idea what they will do with him.

Hurray, they won their 63rd game tonight, shutting out Guardians, so at least they won’t lose 100 games. And the bullpen did not metamorphose into equine excrement tonight.

63 was the lowest guess in a contest I am in. The next lowest guess is mine at 74. Above me is a 76 win prediction. I'm feeling cocky I'm finally going to win. Big prize money too:)

Going to come down to the wire for 74 wins… hope you get it
So, if they win 69-74 games, will you win for being the closest?

Any idea if they are going to shut down Skenes for the rest of the season?

A game right out of the Gunner's playbook - 2 bloops and a blast ..... and then another blast. Too bad they can't do this in front of the overpaying home crowd. But beating Cubbies at Wrigley never gets old. :drinks:

Hotters or hooters? Skenes threw 5 innings and nearly 100 pitches. At least he can turn it over to a reliable bullpen.

Skenes throws a lot of pitches in a few innings. He threw 100 exactly in 5 innings. Of course, hitters are making him work by waiting for strikes. See if bullpen can preserve the lead for Skenes this time!

Still can’t believe they put Cruz in cf.. error prone at ss, so lets put him in cf?!?! Shelton is mentally disabled.

You got it. I started using expressions like that on forums to evade the obscenity filter. It was funny, so I kept coming up with new ones.
I refer to Browns fans as “those impoverished maternal fornicators”.

Nope. It makes sense. Here is the defensive spectrum, from easiest defensive position to hardest:

    First Base-Left Field-Right Field-Third Base-Center Field-Second Base-Shortstop.

DH doesn't have a defensive position, Catcher has specialized skills and no range factor, and no one is interested in a pitcher’s defensive ability, so we leave those three out.

As players age or are found to be defensively inadequate at a position, they will be shifted to an easier defensive position, as long as their offensive output warrants it. This is called the leftward drift. Cruz is not old, but he has been found to not be an adequate defensive shortstop, so they shifted him to an easier defensive position. Why not second base? I don’t know, other than they were somewhat deep in middle infielders, and a center fielder who hits was needed.
It is a smart move, not a stupid one.
