That's a cool story. Lots of celebs from the Burgh. On a similar note, there's the amazing one about Bing Crosby, a 25% owner of the Bucs from 1946 till his death in 1977, where a guy found a video tape of the complete Game 7 of the 1960 WS in Bing's wine cellar of a home near San Francisco still in his family. This is/was the only copy of the entire game still in existence (of which I proudly own a DVD copy) since all film versions had since disappeared/deteriorated and the video tape copy was way ahead of it's time technology-wise. Here's a link about Bing's interaction with the Bucs and that tape. Another trivial factoid is that I sort of interacted with Bing a few years before he passed - we were taking leaks in adjacent urinals at the Cannery at Fisherman's Wharf in Frisco. I chose not to ask for his autograph nor a handshake.

Raise it! Buccos 10 game skid is over. Skenes now 7-2! We need to win 29 in a row to have a chance at wildcard!

If the Pirates only had four more clones of Pornstache and could dependably score three runs per game, they could be in contention in 2025.
Of course that can’t happen, but a 2025 rotation of Skenes, Keller, Jones, Bubba Chandler and Braxton Ashcraft would be pretty good on paper. That is not such an outlandish thought, the first three are here and the other two are doing well in AAA.
This team is alternately fun to watch and extremely frustrating, but is not that far off.

I tend to agree on the starting rotation but Bobby boy would never part with his money to get some real hitters.

First we hear that the Pirates and Sheetz make a partnership agreement for patches on uniforms as well as signage. Now the Players Association is suing the Pirates and Sheetz because they don’t have a license agreement allowing the players to show the patch on advertisements. I think that is the crux of the dispute. Don’t the Pirates have a legal staff to look into various conditions of the Players Association Contract in order to avoid these situations? Mr Nutbag get knowledgeable people on your staff who know the rules and conditions of various player agreements. Ten loses in a row and now a legal situation. Gotta luv em;)

"We can make a run this year and hopefully we can find a way to get in," said Kiner-Falefa. "I actually see this team being a 100 win team next season year. So I'm excited that I have next year here and I look at the pitching staff, you don't have to go out and get any free agents from a pitching front. I think the only guy that is a free agent is Aroldis Chapman. Other than that, you look at the pitchers, this is where guys want to play."

I want the drugs Falefa is using. He said this after winning 1 game in the last 11.

Another Shelton odd move. Falter strikes out a guy for second out. Falter was looking good. Shelton decides to take him out with 2 outs and nobody on base.

Now trying to snatch another defeat from the jaws of victory and can't blame it on Bednar (today). 7-2 lead and German walks one and 2 HBP to load them with no outs.

I spoke too soon - Bednar now in thankfully with a 5 run lead.

Hold on - I take back almost everything I've said about Bednar - he actually pulled a miracle and held a lead with no outs and bases full with a line out and 2 Ks. I think it's goinna snow in Hades today. :drinks:

8 more to get back those 10 we lost;) Think Bucs go to Texas new park for first time after they sweep tomorrow.

Playoffs baby! Biggest winning streak in August so far. Just think when they win 8 more, they'll be right back when we were all giddy about them.

Raise it! 27 more to go! Lets go! Lets win despite our skipper Shelton! I swear Shelton does everything in his power to snatch defeat out of victories jaws!

I dont know the details on Sheltons contract, but do the fans a favor and take him out back and throw him in the dumpster! And have another king sized dumpster right beside it, so we can throw fat boy Bender in there! IMG_0693.jpeg

The Cards run differential had me scratching my head. At one point they were -81 and in second place. They are now -61 and tied for second place. The Reds have a +49, they are for real. The Reds are tied for second place.
Our Buccos are at -24. Hard to win division let alone make playoffs with a negative run differential.

Can you imagine if AJ Burnett would be sitting in the Manager's rocking chair? Or maybe Jason Kendall? Hopefully not another Jim Tracy. Hurdle did his job while he had the players. I'd even take Lloyd (base chucker) McClendon.

Shelton is another head scratching moment. He actually started the 10 game skid when Padres were here in the burgh. Not once, but back to back games he brought in fat boy to preserve the lead in the 9, only to blow it.

I'll pretend you didn't say McClendon;) Never forget during one of our 100 loss seasons his head was lolling back and forth as he was falling asleep.

With a rotation like that, they would only need an average hitting lineup to be a reasonably successful team. I am talking 85 to 90 wins. But at some point they will have to bite the bullet and get rid of some of the sub .200 hitters. It almost seems like they go out of their way to acquire players who strike out a lot and have a low OPS.
Pornstache likes Grandal, so they may keep him to catch on Pornstache Day and give the starting catcher a rest. I hope Taylor is not signed beyond this year. Suwinski has not made himself a roster spot either, in my opinion. With Hayes’ contract, he would be a difficult trade, so he had better learn to hit or he should watch IKF play third.
They have amazing arms in the minors, but unfortunately not so much in the way of position players.

Well, I hope the kids sweep today. Sure wish they could stay at home for a few more. Not a big AL follower but Texas must of had a fire sale after winning the WS. Was surprised they were as bad as us record wise.
