Pornstache pitched a shutout inning starting the all star game. I wonder if he gets more money for making the all star team?
I got a free sandwich at Primanti’s out of it! Thanks, Pornstache! They ran a promotion tonight, free sandwich if you have a mustache. A family passed by our table, a little girl and her mom had fake mustaches. Primanti’s accepted them.
I had the double egg special (I am ovo-lacto vegetarian), and it was good. No way could I eat it all, half will be lunch tomorrow. Watched some of the game. Altogether not a bad evening.

In the 70's the Pirates had a guy most his career. You could buy their jersey's with confidence. I hope to hell not to many kids buy Skenes jersey.

They say a lifespan is pretty much nothing, time wise, in the grand scheme of things but you can see a hell of a lot of change among our species in a short time. I remember when you had to run out ground balls. Now the young privileged men can't be brothered to expend a little energy.

Said it for the last 30 years, technology will be the downfall of our species. (not my problem)

I've noticed that they don't run out ground balls. It's maddening.

Ditto Thursday July 18 and for sure until 6:40pm EDT Friday the 19th. After that - all bets are off. Looks like they will be holding Skenes out until Tuesday the 23rd against Cards. Hope they let him pitch more than 1 inning this time. ;)

That's BS!! I so wanted him to stop my mortal enemies. Sucks for one of our members who is going to a game. I was sure Skenes would go Sat. I guess that AS inning wore the 21 year old out or was it that hot chick yelling "Go Paul":)

By the way, MLB site is showing Nola kicks our ass in game 1 but the next 4 games Pirate pitchers are TBD. Nola is only name beside TBD. Where you getting this info?? You secret owner of the Bucs???

OK, even though you are a secret owner;) I found our starters for Philly games. Perez/Ortiz/Gonzales. Feel bad for Rollers not getting to see Skenes but as long as he sees a win it's all good.

Not remotely an owner but I am wearing a Pirate shirt today, so there's that. I get my info from CBS Sports.com - I'm just the messenger, no guarantees. Guess they thought Skenes and Ollie needed more time alone after the ASG. ;)

This is only my opinion. I think the reason Skenes is not pitching against the Phillies is all about money. We need our best to go against the better teams. PNC will be sold out all 3 games. A lot of my Philly friends taking mini-vacation. They love the Point. A-hole Nutbag realized PNC is set for next 3 games. St. Louis fans are not flooding PNC. Thus A-hole will get another sell-out when Skenes pitches.

    Just a thought.

The Pittsburgh Pirates today released the 2025 regular season schedule.

The Pirates will open the 2025 campaign on Thursday, March 27, at Miami with a four-game series against the Marlins. The first road trip will conclude with three games at Tampa Bay from March 31 to April 2. It will mark the second straight season the Pirates face the Marlins on Opening Day. It will also be the earliest the Pirates have ever started a season.

The Pirates will return to Pittsburgh to face the New York Yankees in the Home Opener for the first time in team history from April 4-6. The first homestand will conclude with a three-game series against the Cardinals from April 8-10.

Other highlights of the 2025 regular season schedule include:

    • April 14 thru April 20: A seven-game homestand against the Washington Nationals and Cleveland Guardians.
    • June 3 thru June 11: A nine-game homestand against Houston, cross-state rival Philadelphia Phillies and Miami.
    • June 27 thru July 3: A six-game, seven-day homestand against the New York Mets and St. Louis.
    • July 4 thru July 13: A nine-game, 10-day road trip leading up to the All-Star break against Seattle, Kansas City and Minnesota.
    • July 18 thru July 27: A nine-game, 10-day homestand against the Chicago White Sox, Detroit and Arizona.
    • September 9 thru September 14: A six-game road trip to Baltimore and Washington.
    • September 15 thru September 21: The final homestand of the season, including three games against the Cubs from September 15-17 and the Athletics from September 19-21.
    • September 23 thru September 28: The final road trip of the 2025 campaign with three games apiece against Cincinnati and Atlanta.

Can't disagree with this opinion/logic. Weekday games need a boost to attract a big crowd - this would do it following the ASG buzz. It happened all the time in LA with Fernando-Mania and then with Nomo-Mania with each drawing enormous crowds dominated by the respective ethnicity. I guess for Pittsburgh that would be a crowd dominated by gymnast fans.

NEWSFLASH: Just saw on MLB.com that all 3 games with Phillies this weekend including Monday's game with Cards will be free to watch on MLB.TV. This appears to be a big marketing splash from MLB coming out of the ASG where most games around MLB will be free to watch. Beginning Tuesday though, when Skenes is scheduled to start, game(s) will not be free.

MLB TV is being offered at half price for rest of season and perhaps cheaper as the season goes on. Pirates historically though in recent history have sucked big time after the ASG and the dog days of summer (along with the ownership) kill them.

Every year my friend, every year they make this offer and I'm totally disgusted knowing what they are doing with Skenes. And Comcast/Xfinity offers same deal with their MLB package. Comcast also shows the first week of MLB free to entice you.

I use to see how the Bucs were doing before buying. Only year I bought after ASG was 2018. This season is thanks to my illegal Nephew.

Are there that many true MLB fans in our country?? Obviously Pittsburgh sport fans will watch when Skenes is on the mound. I can't believe we have that many diehard MLB fans. Just from my corner of the world they don't care when Skenes is pitching and they are actually happy they won't face him.

I really wish I could turn my back on MLB and the stupid frigging hope I have every year but my damn Father bouncing me off beds when Maz hit that HR has ruined my life.;);):lolol:

As stated above I won't be watching but I'll be hoping you see a win. At least one member should see a win. I went up to Philly this season and of course saw a loss.

Woke up to see that the Pirates had an exciting comeback win. One game above .500, and still in the hunt for a wild card. Oh, if they only had average bats in the lineup instead of Taylor, Sewinski, and Triolo.. With this pitching, it doesn’t have to be Ted Williams or Babe Ruth, just a couple of average bats…..
The Pirates should start another minor league team, put all the low average hitters on it, and call it the Mendoza Liners.

According to Dan Zangrilli, “Since June, Rowdy Tellez is batting .321 with a .931 OPS and 26 RBI in 34 games. Before June, Tellez slashed .177/.239/.223 with 8 RBI in his first 48 games.”
Somebody, keep feeding Rahdy whatever it is you have been feeding him. He is knocking the crap out of the ball at this time. I think he was days away from being an Uber driver when he started to hit. The high average surprised me, it is a bonus. I usually look at OPS anyway. .931 is really good.
Also, maybe he could give a blood transfusion to Suwinski.

Jazz Chisholm Jr. is one of the more interesting position players who is likely to move by the end of the month. The Yankees, Royals and Mariners have all been linked to Miami’s center fielder/second baseman. The Pirates have also been loosely floated as a potential Chisholm fit.

Craig Mish of the Miami Herald and SportsGrid appeared on 93.7 The Fan this afternoon (YouTube link, beginning around 9:27). Mish said that Pittsburgh and Miami have indeed discussed Chisholm, though he characterized those talks as “exploratory” in nature. According to Mish, a few teams other than Pittsburgh have expressed more serious interest to this point. While there’s clearly nothing imminent, Chisholm is on Pittsburgh’s radar to some extent as the Bucs look to add offense.

Hope your ride home is enjoyable. Way I see it, since I saw a loss in Philly on a Saturday in April, another board member should see a win on a Saturday in the Burgh!

    GO BUCS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If I looked at map correctly you are only about 15 miles from PNC.
