The money teams will eat our starters alive. My hopes lie with Skenes and Priester making a big splash. Still think the Cubs and Brewers will be battling for our division come dog days of summer.

Why does it feel just like 1983 all over again? (Last time they started 5-0 on the road). They finished 84-78 in 2nd 6 games behind Phillies in NL East. Some good names on that team - Bill Matlock at 3rd won one of his 4 batting titles at .323, Dave Parker in right, Tony Pena at C, Lee Lacy, the Candyman, Tekulve. Interesting, Mad Dog Matlock is only player in MLB with 4 batting titles, NOT in the HOF. He was quite the athlete out of HS. He had 150 scholarship offers in basketball, 100 in football and only 2 for baseball - he took the baseball one at a small JC in the midwest. He finished his MLB career with 2008 hits.

One thing about this Pirates team. You cannot dislike O'neill Cruz!!! He always smiles always hustles. I hope he's healthy for the entire year this year

Some of those guys were on the 79 WS team and I always remember how they got together to watch the Steelers win #4. Candyman looked 3 sheets to the wind;)

Come on man!! You had me falling out the chair. That was funny!!!! How did I not notice that???? Hey, imagine if they hooked up and had a love child. If Arnold S. was at the baby shower he'd say, "you one ugly mofo":) Could be the ugly baby from Seinfeld;)

Hopefully they can get in 5 full innings and the Bucs maintain the lead - up 2-1 right now thanks to Michael A. Taylor. Keller needs to begin earning that big raise.

Update - they made it through 5 but not the way we wanted the score to be. Former Bucco Williams is mowing them down on only 3 hits. Maybe this will alter that. :drinks:

Man Keller can stink up the joint. Had and still have my doubts about him.
Is he the KP of the Pirates? Looking like it.

He should've been pulled earlier. He didn't have it tonight

Funny, you know even great teams lose 50-55 games but the first loss always bothers me.

My new favorite Buc; Taylor. On fire to start season.

Let's win the series today!!!!! Not sure about home opener being played. We just went through 3 days of nasty weather and I think the Burgh gonna get it.

Short memories are a plus! Up 4-0 in 1st after rain delay. Pitchers have to love having a sizeable lead before they throw their 1st pitch. :thumbs up:

Martin Perez seems like a great pickup so far - 61 pitches, 3 hits, 2 runs through 5 full innings, not too shabby. Hope I don't jinx him - they just got a hit starting the 6th with Gallo at bat.

Bucs are 6-1 now, but should have had 12 runs tonight instead of 7. They left a lot of runners on base. I guess I will take the win!
Pirates’ magic number over the Brewers is now down to a mere 156.

Not sure how the weather is in the Burgh but hope they get home opener in. Pretty cool being 6-1 before you have a home game. Last season we ended up 3 games under .500 at PNC.

Bucs in my neck of the woods April 11-15. Tempted as hell to go but I've had mostly bad experiences watching Pittsburgh teams in Philly.

It helped playing 2 "softies" to start the season but I hope this somewhat reassembled crew the Bucs are fielding continue playing well now in front of a home crowd. Of course, other than the openers in both Miami and DC, they were playing essentially in empty stadiums which will probably be the case in Pgh after the opener until probably May. I like that their lowest output (so far) has been 3 runs - the only loss) and then next lowest has been 6 - this is SO different from their norm and means the Pirate pitchers don't have to be perfect knowing that the offense will prevail (unlike the Steelers D). Beat em Bucs!!!!! :yeehaw::towel::herewego:

Saw a post on a Pirate message board from a season ticket holder and he said he's been to worse weather home openers. He said when a small snow shower started the crowd got into it.

Heard from a guy who was at opener. He told me some of the lowlifes booed Falter. Damn guy wasn't even in the game. Idiots blamed him for that 1 loss at the time. Ahole move IMO.

Sure hope Falter shuts the Aholes up today!! Although I'm not very confident.
