Now watch our relievers give up 7 runs and lots of hits just because we are the Pirates.

 

Well we lost the no no but kept them off scoreboard.

Skenes struck out 11 in 6 innings didn't give up a hit. I hope he's settling in

 

Those Game 1 jitters seemed to have vanished and against the only team that already saw him last week.

 

Wonder how long he'll be a pirate

 

A two game win streak! If anything, this shows how much of baseball is between the ears. They look like a different team. It is almost as if they feel less pressure with Jones or Skenes pitching, and are able to hit better.
I have two beautiful old mature maple trees in front of my house. The leaves turn a very vivid blood red in the fall, and people actually stop to look at them and take pictures. I hate to mess with them, but periodically there are bare branches that die and I have to trim them off. You have to do that with sports teams as well. I still hope they DFA Tellez and call Jake Lamb up from Indy. Also, sign Trevor Bauer. Looks like he was the victim of skankery and is not the sex abuser he was made out to be. I believe his accuser has been arrested.
A rotation with Skenes, Jones, Keller, and Bauer would look pretty good.

 

Sad to say, when any Pirate plays well, that is the first thing that comes to my mind. When people portray Skenes and Jones as the new Koufax and Drysdale (which is ridiculously premature), I wonder if they will also do that for the Dodgers.

 

Here is a fun fact:
Skenes' 18 strikeouts through the Cubs outings are tied with Nick Maddox (1907) for the most by a Pirates pitcher over his first two career starts.

 

And our bullpen promptly gave up 3 runs. We really need a quality set up guy and a closer. We really have been getting quality SP, but than bullpen comes in usually around 5 inning and than its good night Irene

 

That has the making of a great rotation but we all know once contract time comes they will be gone. Paul Skenes and Jared Jones look like they will be the sh!t for years to come. My hope is we get some consistent bats and this team could see the 80+ win mark. Not sure how long we will have these guys???

 

We have Clay Holmes........oh wait.

 

Cubbies have their version of Skenes going today. Guy got an ERA of 0.96. Shota Imanaga is the name. Nice Irish fellow

My prediction for today: PAIN. He'll smoke are weak ass hitters. Watch the PGA Championship. They will hit the ball a hell of a lot further then the Bucs.

 

My only concern right now about Skenes is his pitch count. Both starts at 100 and over 100 pitches.
Hopefully he settles down or he is going to be a 5 or 6 inning pitcher.
And with our bullpen we know how this will end. LOL

 

They control Skenes thru 2030 season unless he wins rookie of year.

We definitely need a new closer. Never been to keen on Bednar

 

Our pitching definitely matched up. Until Bednar arrived

 

Such a friggin waste of starting pitching.

 

Bucs seemed to have ML pitchers. We are going to have these guys next season. Bobby boy needs to break down and buy a few bats and we could be heard from.

 

Still need a quality set up and a closer pitcher

 

And a catcher that can hit above. 200
