Sounds like the quarterback situation is…in flux.

In my ideal world, Ben goes on IR and the team game-plans for Rudolph for 2-3 games. If he looks terrible, bench him for Haskins and game-plan for him. Mini-trials, if you will. At least then we’ll have a clear idea of what we’ve got moving forward.

If Ben retires, Dobbs will start some games next year. Either because Mason gets injured or stinks it up.

In all likelihood, Steelers go through several QBs to find one.

But with what they invested and will invest in the defense, signing a vet is a likely scenario if they don’t get their guy in the draft.

Jimmy G can't stay Healthy...otherwise an effective stop gap, but a stop gap that only plays an average of 3 games without getting Hurt is more just a Gap

In 2 weeks at 5-5-1, will you have a different view?

Was he smoking a bong when you were talking to him? I mean, Ridder isn't terrible and, to your point, has been consistent but they don't play anybody.

If we're talking last year's draft, he might have been the 10th QB drafted. But no way would he have sniffed anything higher than 5th round.

Sadly I agree. In the past 50 years we had two so called franchise QB's. I guess Odonnell & Kordell would be our next two in line for longevity. No way Mason or Dobbs is here for the next 10 years. We all hope we find one in the draft but most likely, as you say, several QB's are in the future:(

Regardless, I'm sticking to my fantasy. Dateline 2026: Kenny Pickett leads the Steelers to their 8th SB win (greedy, I know) doing what fans thought another Pitt graduate would have done in the 80's if the Steelers would have drafted him.

We will have 2 be over 7 losses before I'd agree.

Is that related to weldun humor? I've been trying to acquire a skill in that for years.

In HS metal shop class I had a blob of solder drop off the iron and onto my hand. I still have a scar from it 50 years later. I guess that's why I got a C minus for the class.

When I was a kid, probably five or six, I was toasting a marshmallow over dad's grill. Got caught up admiring the sunny, fall Kentucky day, when I glanced back to find the marshmallow had caught fire. Quickly brought it up to blow the flame out only to have it melt off the grilling fork just before I could release the Superman freeze breath. Without thinking, I reached out and snatched the charred glob of molten fire out of midair in a reflex grab that would've made Mazeroski proud.

I don't remember much after that.

I still say if Mason has another terrible game this year the Steelers will use their Cap room to bring in a Big name Veteran Free Agent.

Right now I can't think of a single QB that has moved on to better things after leaving Pittsburgh. Most backup QBs have immediately flopped and then been sitting at home the following year after leaving.

Do you really think Tomlin and company have the coaching ability to develop a young QB?

I don't understand why Houston does not activate Watson. He is on the 53 man roster going in everyday to the facility to workout.

Houston need to make the NFL suspend Watson for what ever time they want; that way teams that want to trade for him can then know when they would be able to play him. Watson is on payroll as he is a member of the team who has not be suspended.

7 hours ago Watson (not injury-related) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Titans.

Yea I really don’t understand what the hell Houston is doing here. Are they worried about bad press or something?

    They won’t trade up un
I know it’s not the way the Steelers have done things in the past but I’d agree with this. They have a decent core of a team with TJ, Cam, Minkah, maybe Tuitt comes back and Bush takes a step, then on offence Najee, Johnson, Claypool, Muth and some young guys on the OLine that have shown some promise and might develop.

Draft OLine, WR and DB in 2022 and put a dependable veteran QB in and they are not going to be a million miles away from a good team. They will have money to fill in gaps on the roster too.

A rookie QB means 2-3 years of growing pains, even if you get a good one.
