Yesterday you said he'd play out his fifth year on the option.

i meant just like watt, he would only account for 10.6 mil. next year on his 5th year option and then get his money just like watt will do this year. meaning they are a year apart in how it will count against the cap and which season the big money will come from. as in we don't have the money this year for a block buster deal for watt. he will play his 5th year option at 10 mil. and get his big payday in 2022, minka will come a year later playing his 5th year at 10.6 and his big money will come in 2023. does that clarify it for you?

another guy they will have to deal with soon will be tuitt. if they give watt the big payday that starts kicking in in 2022, and minka"s big one in 2023 the problem then becomes heywards big hit comes in 2023 as well and tuitt will be a free agent. so in essence watts bigger money and minka's bigger money and cam's bigger money comes when we will also have to pay tuitt and whatever we do at QB by then. a few guys are going to eat up a lot of money in the near future.

Yeah, I hope it gets done this season to avoid any potential franchise tag drama. If it’s a deal similar to Garrett’s in terms of signing bonus, it can be done with minimal implications for 2021 cap space.

Cam's got a $7.4M cap hit this season, that balloons to $17.4M next year, $22.2M in 2023 and 2024. He's not cuttable until 2023, and would still cost $12M against the cap.

    On the hook is right.

I remember us waiting for Trevor to take over for Ben. A lot of teams might be stacking draft capital for Howell or looking for their franchise qb.

When Ben fell to us he was the 3rd qb taken. Isn't Sam likely to be the #1 pick? I don't keep up with college so excuse my ignorance.

I do ,but I don't put what a QB did last year as much significance...because they still have a season 2 play. We've seen a lot of so called number 1 picks fall quickly in a year, and a lot rise in same said year.

either Sam Howell from NC or Spencer Rattler from Oklahoma are expected to be the first QB taken.

I hope the Steelers try their best to land him. I have watched him for 2 years kill my Pitt Panthers.
He was highly successful as a freshman and sophmore.

Maybe that's why they drafted Lowdermilk this year to eventually replace Tuitt.

It's too early to be determining that on either one of those guys, nobody had Joe Burrow going #1 before his final college season.

It costs more to cut him than keep him until 2023. Gotta catch up to that can we keep kicking down the road.
