Sorry, I probably meant to type Miles Killebrew.

    Watt, Marsh, and Killebrew.

That dude is total ass. I’m disagreeing about you comparing him to Watt.

Fair enough counter, but what those numbers suggest to me is that Marsh may have tallied a good portion of his tackles on special teams. His snaps go from being ST-heavy to his getting more opportunities on defense, before changing teams yet again and seeing a signficant reduction in both.

Just saying there isn't a great deal of difference in totals between the two. One is a backup and one is a player of the year. Guys were saying how bad he was and the numbers just don't show that, no matter if his tackles were special teams or defense, he does a pretty good job. STs are a pretty important part of the game. I don't care how many teams he was on before, if he gets the job done here.

The thing is, he hasn't. He's not a good run defender. He gets pushed around. If he is taking the snaps Highsmith used to get when Dupree was in the lineup, that is a huge downgrade.

Total tackles only as compared to snaps played. A fine line between player of the year and a guy that's ass and been on 7 teams. That's your opinion and that's fine but I disagree.

Were you picked last every time they chose teams for the neighborhood team? What’s the obsession with the underdog?

In the right situations we have seen many can play. Harrison, hilton, AV, feiler, foster, spillane, finney, mccloud, nix, pierre, banner, there have been many. Marsh was a 4th rounder. He has played in 4-3 and 3-4 defenses. His strength is probably in a 3-4 more then with his hand in the dirt. We could do a lot worse with no money. The Steelers seem to think he and these types of players have some worth. Enough so that ola was expendable. I think he will do fine here in his role.

Steelers pick up another lineman. Not a great name! Expected to fill Feilers roll.

As Thorn mentioned, story broke really strange.

If the Steelers had the money to bring in better players, you might have a point. They don't, so you don't.

I understand that you don't always have the money to buy the best stuff, so why buy junk?

Pro Football Focus offers the following analysis...

Among 212 qualifying NFL offensive linemen last season, Coward ranked:

    204th overall
    198th pass blocking
    193rd run blocking

204 out of 212...do we really want a lineman that was 8 from the very bottom of the list? Is he even depth at this point? I mean, someone is going to have to coach him how to sit on the bench properly.

No offense to the guy, but yikes.

Steelers like to pick from the trash heap. And with a first year oline coach, yeah this is gonna be great.

While the PFF would be a red flag for me, I'd want to see tape and see what he does well. Being on a bad team sometimes paints everyone with a broad brush. Let's face it the Beats were just not good, the Foles experiment, Tribusky is he benched or not. The stink taints everyone so I'd say wait until Depot or BSC run some tape on the guy but his PFF should be a warning too.

I get it. And I'm not siding against Marsh. He can blow it up and be the second coming, and I'll be happy.

Just not seeing it with his previous stints.
