I kind of agree with you that you can win with offense because you got to think if you can’t score your defense is out on the field all game long. Also, there’s not many defenses that win you Super Bowls. I mean, there’s some but their historic defenses such as the 1985 Bears, the 2000 Ravens, and the 2002 Bucs but it’s a rarity.

 

Add Trading Tomlin to the top of the list!

Agreed. It's not an easy get. But until then the coaching could be vastly improved or we could AT LEAST attempt to improve it so maybe a game manager QB could squeak us by with a very good running game, timely passing game and good defense. We need new HC, DC and OC and OL coaches BADLY, but we all (ones not under the influence) know this, still bears repeating.

 

At least we actually WON playoff games during Cowher's tenure and made it to numerous AFC Championships. Never had a 7 year drought without a playoff win under Cowher. And 3 playoff wins since 2011 is unacceptable.

Who cares about winning seasons under Tomlin or losing seasons under Cowher, which only amounts to a difference of 1 or 2 games. Playoff wins and Superbowls are all that counts.

Hoping we can end the playoff win drought this year but with the way we are playing, it's looking like another one and done.

But hey, this is the same debate we all have year after year on this board. The standard is the standard which has become mediocrity and there is never any accountability it seems. Who will be the fall guy this year if we have a first round exit?

With that being said, I am still hoping we can flip the script next week and turn it all around.

People forget that Steelers won playoff games with Malone, Brister, O'Donnell, Tomczak, Stewart and Maddox. A franchise caliber QB is needed to win a Super Bowl, but not a playoff game.

The QBs listed above had superior coaching to what we have now.

Wilson could win a playoff game in his old age with a better OL and WRs.
