Kevin Colbert needs to go for it this season go out and sign some free agents, specifically a pass rusher or a CB or safety. With AB, Bell due for new contracts soon we don't know how long this core group can stay together with Ben still in his prime. If they could sign a player in the secondary with a Mike Mitchell type of contract, instead of depending on a rookie because they tend to struggle.

As long as we don't get ourselves in a Woodley contract type of situation again.

We won't have enough money to sign too many guys, but we definitely will be able to afford someone in the FA period. I hope it's a SS like Iloka (or comparable player/contract), but wouldn't rule out a decent CB signing either. I just hope we hit with whoever we pay. If the secondary shores itself up a bit, I think we can make a serious play at another Super Bowl.

A good LG and new TE would be helpful too

I agree that they should and think they will be more active in FA this year since they are so close but I dont think its SB or bust yet.

They are better off in the money area then people think, plus the cap is going up 10 million.

Of course it is sbl or bust. You guys see the odds? The steelers are favored at 6-1 to win sbl next year. In a weak AFC they better at least get there...............

I disagree. I don't think your mortgage the next 5 years on one season. Keep doing what we are doing, we will add that #7 sooner than later.
The bulk of this offense is signed for the next two seasons minus Bell.

I thought the post would go something like this: "Those other 6 rings don't mean jack if we don't win SB LI"

They will have to use some of that money to re-sign their own free agents, the Woodley and Troy dead money comes off the books 11-12 million and the cap is expected to go up by 10 million. They can cut Cortez and save 4 million.

I honestly can't remember when the Steelers had this much money to spend.

Father time wins out all the time, I already have seen his regression from the player
he once was. He never had the line or offenses TB PM had to protect him from hits.
The hits will catch up to you. AND THEY HAVE.

It would be nice to see the Steelers in their home black jerseys again for a Super Bowl. SBXXX was the last time Steelers wore black. It's time. SBLI has the AFC team as the home team.

I hate to agree after watching the Pens be in Stanley Cup or bust mode for years and go backwards. But with Ben getting up there and AB and Bells futures in question.. I have to agree.

It is not easy to do what pens did. They did go to back to back stanley cups and lost to a much better team the first year and the second year the wings were actually better than the year before but thankfully they all got hurt during that series or pens would have never won anything but I will take it. The steelers are primed to take it and are actually favored to take it as they are the best team headed into the AFC next year.

If you remember they were actually the home team against the Seahawks but opted to wear the away white jerseys because they were the number six seed and won all of their playoff games on the road in white.

Maybe mobility but thats it. The last 2 seasons prior to this one were the best of his career. Even this year he nearly threw for 4000 yards. The only negative was his Int were up.

You're right.... I forgot about that. Steelers would have whooped Seahawks 42-10 if they wore black... Ben = MVP. HA!

Yeah, that 08-09 run was impressive but they really didn't get into SC or bust mode until like 2 years ago. Going after big name FA and trading away their farm and future with 1st round picks. I mean any team with arguably two of the best players in the world will have expectations to win. Every year they seem to have a lot of injuries just like the Steelers seems to be a Pittsburgh thing. Pens management is horrible as well. That's why I'm so thankful for the Rooneys.

And not having an elite goaltender is very hard to win year after year even though the rest of the squad is loaded just like not having a great qback. The 90s and the 2000s steelers were loaded with talent but where did that get them?
