I have heard many times over how the Steelers have not been doing a good job in the draft of late, so I was wondering if the majority of people checked out Prisco doing a recap on this draft. This was considered a very weak draft, the first round, especially the top, was bad and is loaded with busts and underachievers. We got 6 players still on the roster who have contributed and in a few cases are greatly contributing to our success.

Jarvis Jones - would we want more dominance from a first round pick, I think we can all agree it would be nice, but he has steadily improved and started showing flashes last year with a full season under his belt and dodging the injury bug. He is what I would call steady not spectacular, and think we will work out an extension for him before he hits FA.

Le'Veon Bell - This pick speaks for itself, the best running back in the league, and if not for some flukey injuries and self inflicted stupidity, I think he would have been seriously considered in the MVP discussion

Marcus Wheaton - his rookie season was pretty much a wash because of a nasty finger injury, but since has settled in to his role of a solid 2b/3 wr with last years Seattle game showing what he is capable of

Shamarko Thomas - Despite his struggles, I still consider him an above average contributor for his special teams play alone. Who knows, maybe there is still hope for him being a steady back up and continued special teams play

Landry Jones - He is tough for me to put on this list, but he actually won a couple games for us this year, which were the difference between us getting into the playoffs, is that worth a 4th round pick? I will let you decide, but again, if we lose that Arizona game, we don't make the playoffs

Vince Williams - We seem to do alright in the 6th round, he is not spectacular, but is a thumper, ala Larry Foote. Getting the production we have out of him from the 6th round is nothing to sneeze at.

So looking at these players, I personally consider this draft a success, six players who are contributors on our current team is nothing to sneeze at, especially from a draft considered as weak as it was. Players we passed/missed on after a quick glance

    1st
Eric Reid, Tyler Eifert, Desmond Trufant, Deandre Hopkins (was not aware he went at 27, jaw dropped)

    2nd
Jamie Collins (Obviously we got the best player out of the 2nd rd though)

    3rd
Travis Kelce, Tyran Mathieu (character concerns at the time, but has seemed to overcome it)

    4th and 5th
    None of note

    6th
    Latavius Murrary, Andre Ellington

    7th
    None of note

Now obviously, I don't know other teams role players nearly as well as the Steelers, so there may be someone I am missing. But all in all I feel we did rather well in a draft that did not have a ton of talent in it.

Now if we can just get Bell to the post season, then we'll have something going.

now if we can just have all of the NFL stop trying to kill our players that would be great. If we are healthy I can bet we will win the title.

That first Bengals game is going to be something else. Bad blood will flow.

If the steelers brand is physical football which it is, then they have to expect their opponents to play physical football when they meet up....

I was pimping Eifert as our first rounder. Oh well, Tomlin and Colbert can't expect to know more than me every time!

The week before the game, Bulletin board material will be flowing from both sides. I like football.

I don't think anyone would've predicted the type of beast Hopkins would become, but I did pimp trufant pretty hard, and was marginally disturbed when we passed on him
