I agree. In '77 they drafted Robin Cole, he was a decent LB. Hard to fill Andy Russel's shoes, but Cole had a really nice career.

Wow just read in wiki that he was an All Pro in '84..he is not on the list from PFR, so don't know the accuracy of the wiki reference.

1975 free agent John Banaszak won ROY I believe. 3 SBs.

you're saying he won rookie of the year? I don't believe that's correct?

Let me check the source I read it from Rollers. Looks like I'm wrong.

Edit: he was team roy. Not as awesome but remarkable considering he wasn't drafted.

Interestingly asked and answered today had a question about Anthony Bailey who was an undrafted free agent signed by the Steelers in 2008 who won the team rookie of the year over all the guys drafted. Mendenhall wad knocked out by Ray Lewis in his rookie year and didn't play for most of the year. Meaning that as a special teams guy Bailey did the most to help the team over Sweed, Dixon, Humpfel, Mundy and the rest.

you are probably right I knew it was a Bailey, I read the article on break and was shooting from the hip, dangerous to do but I went for it. Gotta be impressed with how I ran into the wall with it too lol

I only remembered him because he played his college football at Duke, who I followed at the time. (I was working in that area).
