The Packers win over the Dolphins today, insured the Steelers will be alive for at least one more week.

Packers beat the Dolphins 26-20. Steelers still very much alive. Everything they needed to have happen this weekend did for them to have a legit chance these last 2 weeks to still have a shot to still make the playoffs.

Yup. I still think there is way too much that has to happen for the Steelers to get in, but I'm certainly not complaining about them having life into next week.

I'll start thinking playoffs when every team we need to lose, loses and we win out.

I think you should start paying attention. It's all unfolding right before our very eyes already. Everything, I mean EVERYTHING so far has fallen into place for us. Just have to hope it continues. Steelers shouldn't have dug this big of a hole for themselves and if they don't make it then they have nobody to blame except themselves. Right now, I'm just enjoying the ride.

    4% now!

What was the chance for the steelers to make the playoffs last year before the finals 2 games(before week 17)?

All 3 of his INTs were head scratchers. Not even close to his receivers. Those throws were so bad, it's almost as if he was trying to lose.

Scenarios for next week as of now for it to come down to week 18 are this

    -Steelers win in Baltimore —
-Patriots beat the Dolphins in New England
    -Jets lose in Seattle

And if the Chargers happen to lose in Indy tomorrow night you can add the Chargers losing to the Rams next week to that list.

So yea a lot still has to fall into place but none of those games that the Steelers need to go their way next week are absolute impossible to think it couldn’t happen.

They also then need the Jets to beat the Dolphins the following week, which may be the longest shot of all of it.

I'd love to see them sneak in, but realistically, that still ended when they blew the game against the Ravens.

I think they described it well on the broadcast after the last one. It's a timing offense, but he keeps getting suckered into making quick throws into coverage.

Today was the first time I started paying attention to the help they needed and actually started rooting for it as I watched the fourth quarter of the Packers' win over the Dolphins. I still won't let myself believe it, but I would certainly take 9-8 with Pickett showing more progress the rest of the way.

he showed little until the 58 minute mark yesterday. WHY throw the damn ball so much, short of the sticks on 3rd downs? Come on man, come on.

what a putrid offensive performance again.......

We miss Claypoole, in that we have a 3 receiver attack - anemic, to be sure. Muth, Pickens and DJ.

Lots of work to be done O.

STELLAR PERFORMANCE by the D - Cam Heyward is an ALL TIME Steeler great!

He's really not as good as some people think. I mean the man should have thrown 4 ints against us, and possibly a 5th, but everyone was dropped. Just think of how different that game would have been with just half of those.

The Ravens are still playing for the AFCN division title. They need to win vs Steelers and week 18 @ Cincy. So yeah, next week's game matters to them.

Exactly. If the Ravens win the division, they will be no worse than the 3rd seed. But with losses in their last 2 weeks, they could drop all the way down to the 7th.

No, they don't really miss Claypool, and it was certainly the right call to trade him for what will likely be the 32nd or 33rd pick in the draft.

I expected more out of this season's team! Unfortunately, so goes TJ....so goes our team! This is the sole reason I feel that at season's end, TJ should be traded (to get the most out of him). He's a great player but not worth nearly half the defense's overall salary cap!

Get a draft pick plus free up some cap space in order to bring in a few people that are blue collar, solid front 7 players ( and maybe even have some space to bring in a few good OL). It's the most legit team sport (football)! Relying on one guy to be your savior (or take you down-if they get injured), is not a great model for success (IMO).

Ultimately, the team under performed this season. From the defenses lull with the loss of TJ.. to the offense's lack luster playcalling/execution. All of this falls on the head of the HC. This is ultimately what needs to change. But that probably wont happen this next season. So in the mean time, the Steelers need to seek out; veteran OL help and a couple front 7 players. Look to the draft for some depth in the DL/OL and perhaps another receiver. And get a couple guys to help in the secondary. Coaching; At least replace both coordinators! Neither of these guys performed to a satisfactory level this season IMO.

If so go the team as goes TJ wouldn't that mean they get rid of TJ they get rid of wins?
I think I get what your saying, he eats up too much space cap wise but I'd rather have a stud then 4 or whatever extra picks.

    You can't undervalue a playmaker.
I agree however with the cap hit issue but I think that changes 2 years from now when it looks a bit more "team friendly."
As in, top 5 olb on a top 15 cap hit.

Nobody is truly dominant in the nfl week in and out this year. Surprisingly if Steelers make the playoffs I just might say they can pull off a win as long as it’s not chiefs or buffalo. That would be insane lol

I think the issue with TJ is that his best years are getting close to behind him because of wear and tear. One more serious injury and that contract will look horrendous.

That being said if he can fully recover this offseason and stay healthy he probably still has another 1/2 dominant years
