The Steelers beat a backup Bengals QB in 2005, I guess we should put an asterisk next to that win also .

Compared to what? No one has a trio of Watt, Heyward, and Fitzpatrick on their defense in the entire league. Sure, Heyward is getting old... but we have another young pass rusher that is tearing it up, a young rookie QB that is starting to progress, the best young TE in the league (potentially already a top 6-7 player at the position), a 21 year old at the WR position that is on the rise, a quality young RB... Our OL is young and has been performing better every year. Also we have 3 picks that are set to be in the top 50 in next year's draft.... We are a very talented team. Just untested. We lack high end experience in key positions that hurts us (namely QB, CB, ILB) but overall we are a pretty talented team that is just super young.

Its a VERY difficult stat to achieve... but I'd rather win superbowls and have a losing season or two sprinkled in. Its impressive, but I certainly would rather our team progress and get better during an 8-9 season than preserve the stat. I want to win bc it will make Kenny, Pickens, and the rest of our young team better. Not because it preserves Coach T's (and a few years of Cowher) record

How many times must I say this.....We have had a non losing season before M. Tomlin was our HC. It's not a Mike Tomlin record....it's a Steelers record....since 2003 was our last losing season. Only Tomlin Lovers, or Tomlin Haters call it Tomlins record....the rest of Us call it a Steelers record....for that is what it is.

It’s not about Asterisks or the wins not counting. It’s the facts that in our last 3 playoff wins over a 12 year Tomlin coached stretch we have beaten Matt Moore Alex Smith and the Bengals going bat **** crazy with the game won. They all count nobody said they didn’t if you find this stretch impressive have at it!

Nobody said it was impressive, but to sit there and nitpick about which QB they beat is dumb, according to some of you playoff wins only count if you beat an elite QB .

Except it’s not facts. 12 years would include the 2010 season was our playoff wins and Super Bowl appearance.
I know what you’re saying to run around to every thread and post about “12 years and only three playoff wins”, but you’re either going to have to wait a couple more weeks for it to be possibly true or change it to 11 years.

Odds are, we’re not gonna win a playoff game this year. But you’ve been running around for quite some time spouting off about 12 years and only three playoff wins. You’re calling it a fact, except it’s not a fact at least not yet.
You’re clearly just trying to agitate people. Pretty friggin pathetic.

Im not trying to aggravate anyone what are you talking about man? It’s been clear since the beginning of the season we were not a playoff caliber team which is why I’m 99.99999% confident it will be 12 years. Wake up and smell the coffee bro some of you guys are in some fantasy world when it comes to the Steelers.

Yes, you are trying to agitate people. What other reason is there for posting that same statement across multiple threads over and over?
I’m just pointing out that you’re not factually correct. And I’m not living in any fantasy land when it comes to the Steelers. I realize that we’re not very good this year and barring a miracle we’re not making the playoffs, but until we’re eliminated, anything is possible.
You seem to need a lesson in reading comprehension. Just because I’m pointing out that you’re not factually correct in your statement doesn’t mean that I think it’s perfectly fine that we only have three playoff wins over the last 11 years it basically just means you’re not factually, correct bro.

and I actually agree with a lot of the criticisms that you have of the Steelers. The problem is the way you go by presenting it. You just Gotta keep rubbing everybody’s nose in it constantly. Remember we are all supposed to be fans of the Steelers and want what’s best for the team. Most people understand exactly what the problems are, but they just wanna watch the games and enjoy it and not have some goof reminding them every freaking second how bad we are. It’s a huge ****ing buzz kill. After all none of us can control any of it. So why drive everyone else nuts?

    That's all.
I hope You stick around. Like @SteelerGlenn@SteelerGlenn said ....We are all Steelers fans.

We are all Steelers fans. I always take the last week of the year off and with my screaming kids home I find myself posting a lot more than usual.

Have to look in the mirror though with so many members coming at me. I’ll admit I have become overly negative and my hatred for MT isn’t even healthy. Saying the same crap over and over is pointless and just floods the threads. I need to take a step back and realize this.

I became a Steelers fan at birth my father gave me no choice! Really started to love the Steelers and understand the game around the late 80s early 90s. Never missed a game around that time. I was spoiled because they were always very competitive even though we came up short many times. When we got Ben it was like a new beginning because we were not only a contender but one that could actually go all the way. I remember crying with my dad when they won in 2005 and him telling me now you can stop complaining about being born in Pittsburgh. Of course we won again in 08 with the Santonio catch I was downtown and ran into a private SB part with his jersey on pointing to the back and everyone going crazy.

I remember the excitement I used to feel watching games and then heading into the playoffs. I don’t feel any of that anymore and I’m pissed. I blame it all on MT although that’s not fair. Players play management makes moves and ownership runs the show.

I’m certainly no troll, as a troll in my mind is a fan of another team coming to the board and trying to get a rise. But I will say I have become over the top in my hate and will back off and hope things get better. I ****ing miss caring!

    2023 HWGS!

    During Roethlisberger era....

    Steelers beat:

    Pennington
    Palmer/Kitna
    Manning (HOF)
Plummer (beat Brady in divisional round)
    Hasselbeck
    Rivers (maybe HOF)
    Flacco
    Warner (HOF)
    Flacco
Sanchez (beat Brady in divisional round)
    McCarron
    Moore
    Smith

So that's 3 HOF QBs beaten in the playoffs.... in 18 seasons. Alex Smith is OK, but nobody will ever remember Moore and McCarron. And those were our most recent playoff wins... 6 years ago.

And the only position that matters is the qb. It’s not actually a team sport the other 10 on offense and 11 on defense are just there for looks. They don’t actually serve a purpose or play a role

I personally think that "Tomlin stat" is brought up when the media starts to question the lack of playoff success for the steelers since our last Super Bowl. Yes AFC championship game in 2017 but all of us knew it was over the moment we lined up in zone against Brady. Then losses to inferior teams, mental mistakes, apparent lack of discipline in the locker room, etc, etc so then someone writes an article, minority owners want Tomlin out or a TV commentator makes critical comment about Tomlin then others in the medial or former NFL players or Coaches site that stat as the defense as to why it is almost crazy to suggest Pittsburgh would even consider moving on from Tomlin.

Definitely more to it than just the QB but in todays style and rules favoring the offense so much if you don’t have a top notch QB it’s hard to contend. Is it any coincidence that the best teams besides possibly SF all have the best QBs? KC Buffalo Cincy Philly….

If Playoff wins only count when you beat an elite QB, there are a few cities that owe Ben and heartbroken Steeler fans a thank you;)

Very nice post. Thanks for sharing.
I also have some of those same feelings. I’m definitely not as excited as I have been in the past. I had a conversation similar to what you’re saying, with a friend of mine who is also a Steeler fan and found out that we both feel the same way. Where is I don’t mind losing when we’re competitive and just come up short, but the way we played the last two years really stinks.
Maybe it’s just my personality, but I just try to enjoy the games and stay optimistic in the hopes that things turn around. For me, my only other real option would be to quit watching and supporting Steelers and I just don’t see how that could ever be an option. I guess that’s why I get so frustrated when I feel like some people are being way over the top with the negativity , to me it just comes off like they’re just trying to rile people up.

One of my best friends who passed away a couple years ago was also a huge Steelers fan and for over 20 years we pretty much watched every Steeler game together along with a few other Steelers fans. The last few years he was alive he had gotten super negative not only about the Steelers but about a lot of other stuff too. We would be watching a game, and if the Steelers made a bad play, he would turn and look for the rest of us and say she I told you I told you. To the point where he was screaming at us. It was bizarre behavior. He was basically blaming us because the Steelers were playing bad. It got so bad that it was almost unbearable to watch a game with him. Finally had to have a talk with him and basically told him I wasn’t interested in watching games with somebody who was acting like a complete whack job.
He responded with something along the lines of “ you guys don’t listen to me. I’m trying to tell you what’s wrong with this team” I said, bro what if I told you I agree with you. He responded with then why are you not as mad as I am about it. I said what’s the purpose? I can’t change any of it. He told me I was wrong said that was the only way things were going to change is if everybody acknowledged it and something was done about it. I said to him what possible difference are we going to make. Never got an answer to that he did calm down after that, though, but I could tell he wasn’t happy about it.

Anyway, I’m glad you decided to stick around. Have a good new year and go Steelers.
