Oh, before he got hurt, Roger Carr was more than serviceable. He was great, the number one deep threat in the NFL in 1976. I attended a game in 1976 at Shea Stadium in which Carr absolutely torched the Jets for 210 yards and 2 TD's. (Yes I had to look up the stats but I can still see him catching bombs that day.) That season he averaged more than 25 yards a catch and led the NFL in receiving yards.

In fact, after their first 3 seasons (1974-1976) here were their numbers:

    Swann-88 receptions, 1,505 yards, 17.1 average yds/catch, 16 TD

    Carr- 87 receptions, 2034 yards, 23.3 average yds/catch, 13 TD

At that time, Swann was the one with injury issues- in fact he'd already been threatening to retire due to his concussions.

Then in 1977, Carr got hurt, then in 1978 his quarterback Bert Jones got hurt, and his career declined. He did have another season after that when he had 926 yards receiving, a higher total than any of Swann's best years. In fact, Carr finished his career with only 357 fewer receiving yards than Swann in almost the same number of games (Swann 116, Carr 115).
