I thought it would be good to have a thread dedicated to players the Steelers could or should be interested in on the waiver wire or free agent market. Here is a list Del posted in a different thread to get things started-

McGlynn was just signed by the Chiefs and Egnew was claimed by the Lions. Feel free to update and add your own.

I wouldn't mind Travis Beckham. He run blocked plenty at Wisconsin. He would be a smaller version of Heath in terms of potential skill set. Not saying he would ever become Heath but he would be a mismatch more so than Spaeth.

If guys are cut during the first phase of cuts to 75, odds are they aren't any good and not much better than what they currently have. The Steelers would be better off waiting until the cuts to 53 to find some bargains.

Thomas and Dowling are better than some of the corners we have here

No they're not Thomas had ACL tears in consecutive years and hasn't been the same player since. Dowling is so overrated hyped coming out of college hasn't done anything in the NFL, I don't think he has a played a full season since being drafted.

thats not necessarily true. heck the Steelers release a couple guys some people around here hope make it to the practice squad.

odds are most guys that get cut during the first waive are not NFL players, but some guys may of gotten cut because they were a bit banged up and never had a real chance to show their abilities.

you never know when you might find a diamond in the rough. taking a chance on a couple guys cant hurt

What type of athlete is this kid? Are we gonna try to bulk him up and keep him at DE? Or play him as an OLB at his current weight (less likely at his height)? He played some WR in college it looks like, so maybe a TE project? He could certainly be a good red zone target if he is any type of athlete.

I would bring in Lucas Nix for a look,
Am I showing my Pitt bias? He may have the slow feet problem also though and we certainly have enough of that.

The Steelers should strongly consider P Bobby Cowan who was waived by the Rams Tuesday.

I wouldn't get my hopes up on him I read he hasn't played football since 2009.

The Steelers aren't suspending Bell and Blount this season, the NFL won't do anything until 2015. I would pass on Green-Ellis he's past his prime, they should just put a young RB on the PS.

Pryor released. Better than Jones. Tomlin likes him. Frankly , I could care less.

I would rather have Pryor as a 3rd QB than Jones. If we have 1 or 2 injuries to our starting O-line, we're going to need a QB who has the capability to run for his life.

What do you mean 1 or 2 injuries? Ben is under constant pressure already. If the OL gets any worse we will need Super Man back there.

How bad is Burleson now that Cleveland has it's top receiver out for the season and he's on of the cuts announced first?

Says a lot, that's for sure. I read that he missed most of preseason with a hamstring injury, though.

The Jets cut Stephan Hill. He was a big WR I was calling for the Steelers to draft. Shows what I know.
