    I am
    disappointed to say the
least, Where is the heart? We looked unprepared? Who has a pulse of this team? Why was Troy acting like he was?Who can light a fire under these guys?I would say these fellas better get their heads screwed on. Coaches included. This was a very poor showing. These
players need an attitude adjustment and I am not sure MT
    is the guy for it.
Do you think we compare to high caliber playoff teams? What would Seattle do to us? How about Denver?

It's pre-season. This team always starts slow. Better to get the crappy play out early. Could serve as a wake up call. Yada yada yada...

The best thing fans can do is use their mental Etch-a-sketch and erase this game from memory. In 2 weeks, it won't matter one bit. Hell, it doesn't even matter now.

And now for my earlier than usual fatalism :)roflmao:)

None of it really matters. Just enjoy this season for whatever it ends up being and watch the young guys grow. A SB is not in the cards. Goodell (or the league in general) is pulling all stops to make sure one of the golden children QBs gets a ring this year. I predict about 30 flags or more a game for any defense playing Peyton.

God forbid a good defense wins a championship. Or is allowed to even play defense. We can't have another Seattle.

(Not that we have a good defense anyway, but I digress)

So prepare for the Rodgers, Manning, Brady, Brees hypegeddon. Be amazed at Andrew Luck's coming out season (can he go for 5000 yards in the new environment?). Marvel at Joe Flacco's insane stat line of 15-36 156 yards, but 210 yards of penalties. Laugh loudly at how the refs all seem to be Steeler fans. Wait... Those aren't Terrible Towels.

And gnash your teeth as somehow, the new rules, or emphasis, or whatever BS spin Goodell chooses don't apply to teams playing the Steelers (or any non-chosen QB for that matter). Giggle at how there still is no emphasis or consistency on offensive lines holding with impunity. Facepalm every time a flag goes up for H2H that never happened.

And when Manning chokes. Again. And it appears as though despite all odds, a defense yet again won a Superbowl, prepare for even new rules next season: no blitzing allowed. Defenses only allowed to play 8 men, and 6 of them have to stay inside a 5 yard box. Or whatever other scheme Roger Goofball comes up with to "increase scoring as that's what the fans want."

(We still make the playoffs this year.)

This team/franchise has lost its way. Sometimes you're going to be short on talent, but there's never an excuse for being short on effort or preparation. This act has gotten old. Too often this team seems to get caught off guard by game days. It's as if they thought they were going to the coliseum to watch the gladiators ... and then were escorted onto the field to face the lions.

Underwhelmed. I am completely underwhelmed by this team at this point in time.

It's only pre-season, so we shouldn't rush to judgement, but I can't help it. I'm okay with a vanilla offence that doesn't do much, and I'm okay with a defence that doesn't do much because we're not running some of our exotic plays and schemes. What bothers me though is once again we look completely unprepared to play football. This team looked flat, like they have since the day Tomlin came to town. There's no excuse for that, not even in the pre-season.

I hope this season will be different and our guys will come out inspired and play solid football

That's no excuse for not even trying.

I'll worry about it when it counts. They show that effort during the regular season, I'll be disappointed to say the least.

I would agree with you, but the last few years we have often played completely uninspired football. It's not like this pre-season game is a one off. I would like to chalk it up to pre-season, but we've seen this before in the regular season.

What were Ben's sage words for Bryant? You play like you practice.

You're right that it's preseason, and therefore the final score means nothing, but that doesn't mean that effort, preparation, and performance, mean nothing.

I've been wondering the same thing, what was the cause of a game like this: Tired? Unprepared? Coaching? Lack of Effort?

I did not see the game, only heard it online. I do know Chip Kelly is a full throttle kind of guy. My guess is Eagles probably game planned the heck out of this game, where the Steelers usually play it very vanilla in preseason. That could be part of it... I hope.

To those who say "It's preseason, the Steelers start slow", your correct, it is preseason and under Tomlin the Steelers start slow get beaten by poor quality teams and only gain some momentum only after it becomes obvious that a winning season is at stake if you call 8-8 a winning season and jobs are on the line. The Steelers have taken on the personality of Tomlin. Since Tomlin arrived and after the Cowher influence has worn off the Steelers are a team in decline. I was a Steeler fan before the arrival of Chuck Noll, and it pains me to watch the current lackluster ho hum attitude, on the field and on the sidelines that Tomlin has brought to this team. Tomlin has done nothing to improve the deficiencies that have plagued the Steelers other than tell the fans what we already know and to use his "talk" to make everyone feel warm and fuzzy that he will make it better.

Yeah it's only preseason, but that was a 3 quarter 1st team dress rehearsal, there is no more preseason for those players, so what we saw is what we are going to get on opening day, so preseason may not mean nothing to some people but it brings back bitter memories of other losing preseasons that carried over into the regular season...

As I said when we lost to Tebow in a playoff game, when the plane reached cruising altitude - everyone and I mean everyone with Coach in front of their name should have been fired, let go, terminated; etal!! We were totally embarrassed on national TV!!

Couldn't have said it better. If it was the last game of preseason it wouldn't matter but like you mention the dress rehearsal of what we will see during the regular season and we look like do do.

Even more concerning than the 1st half beat down was the beginning of the 3rd quarter when their 2nd string defense stopped us with relative ease. Then their 2nd string offense drove the ball down the throats of our starting defense.

And look how well Tebow's career has gone since then. He got dumped by the Broncos, dumped by the Jets, dumped by the Patriots, and now he's going into year 2 of being involuntarily retired.

You are right, that would have been a good time to flush the staff.

I said a few weeks back that I wanted to see the team looking ready in the 3rd game. Instead what I've seen is the first team looking on it's way in the 2nd game, and then a weird, incohesive performance in the 3rd.

The result isn't all that important, but I didn't finish watching the game feeling I had any more of an idea of who I'd like to see in the final 53.
