3rd QB Options

Cleveland....Conner Shaw? He looks like he might be the one out the door up there, but he did more last night than Jones ever did.

Kansas City....Tyler Bray or Aaron Murray? It looks like one of these guys is going to be cut. Murray I would be ALL over simply due to arm strength and age.

Oakland....Matt McGloin? Not sure how much ceiling he has, if any, but I think he would work hard if nothing else and might not lose games should he have to actually play.

Anyone else have any ideas?

Yes ... we don't need one. If disaster strikes we could always dial up Tebow and run the ball 40 times a game.

The real point of a #3 QB is to keep a young guy that could someday be a quality #2. Jones is not that guy.

 

Why not take a look at Brendon kay thursdaynight.

 

I'd like to see how he plays.

I'm pretty sure no matter how bad he looks we will still keep him on the roster as #3.

I don't think anything changes now until next off-season when Gradkowski's contract is up and we decide on a new plan for the backup(s) in total (both #2 and #3).

My prediction is if they cut Jones, would be Terrelle Pryor ... assuming he gets cut, since he and Tomlin are so tight.

There was this receiver at camp, #17 Lanear Sampson who just had to be out of his mind frustrated with Kay the day I was there. Obviously (a MT reference) for 17 or even the guy we got from the Pittsburgh Power to make the team or even the PS, they have to show a whole lot during practice. I didn't see them on the field against the GMen, didn't see the Bills game. Maybe, with the competition, Bryant and Moye and company need as much playing time as possible. But I digress...anyway, I was saying #17 had to be frustrated because if he is to earn a spot on the team, he needs to catch the ball. Unfortunately, every time he was thrown the ball, it was from Brendan Kay. And, every time Kay threw him the ball, it was not even in the same zipcode as #17 was. It almost became comical, if it weren't so sad that the 8-17 connection was never made. Beyond that missing connection, in practice, to my untrained eye, there didn't appear to be much separation between Kay and Jones.

 

After Dennis Dixon gets cut bring him back, at least he was a competent backup.

There aren't many good 3rd sting qb's in the league, since they would be back ups or starters if they were any better. With that said, if we don't believe in Landry anymore go find a young guy we do believe in. If we can't find one, then PS Jones and draft/sign a new guy next season... This shouldn't be as big of a topic as it is.

 

id take johnson in a heartbeat over LJ.. love to have seen more of my bearcat kay.... hell id take CB back over LJ... he is maybe the worst BU i have ever seen... and jsut no emotion
