    OFFENSE

    QB- Big Ben, Gradkowski

    RB- Blount,Bell/ Poole,Archer

    FB/TE- W.Johnson

    WR- A.Brown,Moore,Wheaton,J.Brown,M.Bryant

    OL-Beachum,Foster,Pouncey,DeCastro,Gilbert,Adams,Whimper,Wallace,Hubbard

OFFENSIVE THOUGHTS: Landry is done so cut him( he won't get picked up ) and PS him. Paulson has outplayed all other TE except Miller & Spaeth. Blanchflower gets the PS nod over Waters. Adams gets a last chance and Hubbard over Wesley J. Who gets PS. He just isn't strong enough for the NFL,,,yet. I Expect him next yr to leapfrog both Adams&Whimper.

    DEFENSE:

    DL: Heyward,McLendon, Thomas, Tuitt, McCullers,Mauro

    OLB- JJ,Worilds,Moats,So'oto, Howard Jones

    LIB- Timmons,Shazier,Spence,V.Williams, T.Garvin

    CB- Cortez,Gay,Ike, Blake

S- Troy,Mitchell,Shamarko Thomas, Wil Allen, Golden

DEFENSE NOTES: Mauro & Big Dan upgrade Fangupo & Arnfelt. Time for Carter to go. Golden made the 53, w.Allen is on the fense.

ST- LS, Warren & Luke.. Suisham, Wing,

    PS= 10 members
Qb Landry, LB Zumwalt & Dan Mills. OL Wesley Johnson. TE Blanchflower, S Dangerfield, RB J.Hall , DL Nick Williams, CB Shaq Richardson & Wr Derek Moye.

This is it as of now and it's late, I'm tired and hope I didn't make a silly mistake. What do you think?

I don't think Moye is PS eligible. I like the receivers you did put on the 53 though.

Still don't think they only go with 2 QB's but this would probably be a good way to sneak someone else onto the 53.

Would like to see Waters make it instead of Paulson (or even Blanch but he hasn't done enough to earn a spot)

Oh, and you forgot to put Brice McCain on :lolol:

From what I can determine Moye has PS Eligibilty left which is good. Bryant just isn't ready yet. Too raw but too much potential to loose. NO ONE is going to sign Landry. If Ben goes down we're in trouble. Gradkowski sucks almost as bad. If we go 3 QB I see us signing either another FA vet or a young guy just released on final cutdown.

BRICE almost made my roster this time. I. Green is most likely going to replace Shaq on th PS if he don't show something Thursday nite.

Rob & Eric have done nothing to beat out Paulson. They are fighting for one PS Spot.

I've read a couple beat reporters say Moye is ineligible, but according to my calculations, he is.

I am going to seperate my responses out into 2 posts, one for offense and one for defense.

On offense, I think your roster is very possible. There are a couple of things that I think still need to be decided that I struggle with.

    Only 2 QBs?
    Has Poole earned his spot?
Is Poole better at special teams than DHB?
Hubbard was horrible game 1....much better game 2. Not sure where he stands at the moment.
    Paulson?

I do not currently believe that we only carry 3 QBs, but Landry has not earned the spot. I'm not sure who else is out there we could pick up, but with us sitting guys every week anyway, I think we may still go out and get a QB assuming Landry does not raise his game. That being said, I'm not sure how much more of a chance he is going to get.

I'm not sure how to feel about Poole. Personally, I think DHB is probably the better special teamer and his speed is impressive even if he can't catch consistently. Poole could also win simply based on position.

Paulson I think has outperformed Blanchflower, but there are still 2 games and I am hoping that changes.

I think the Wesley Johnson vs. Hubbard debate at the moment may be about who they think they can get to the PS and who they can't. If they don't believe Johnson can get to the PS...and Hubbard can and still is eligible....one may win over the other.

All of this being said, I think we can make some choices and I think these choices will shape the bottom part of the O roster.

    3rd QB?
    4th RB?
    6th WR?
    8 or 9 Olineman?
    Which 3rd TE?

Great analysis Cajun. I could see this potentially being our roster.

I never expected this, but at the moment the Dline is the easiest position to project. The 6 you have, even with 3 rookies as the 2nd unit, is exactly how it should work at the moment.

I do not agree that they keep 10 LBs. I just don't see the point. The ILBs are extremely talented and may be the best group of 4 ILBs in the league, albeit inexperienced. Spence and Williams could just as easily be the starters for this team as Timmons and Shazier are. Garvin also provides great depth. The question then becomes how many OLBs are we going to keep. Are we really going to keep 5? I don't see it personally, I just don't. I think the position is still open to H. Jones, So'oto, and Carter all fighting for the last spot. If I was making the cuts right now, I would put So'oto on the team and H. Jones on the PS. Other than the fumble recoveries he really hasn't done much else IMO. He has a TON of potential, but I just don't see him making the roster unless he does something more.

I see McCain on the roster. I don't think, even with our S abilities to cover people, only keeping 4 CBs. It doesn't impact your roster hugely at the moment, but I think one OLB is replaced with a CB keeping your overall numbers the same.

Will Allen is a guy the coaches like, but I hope they realize that he is no better than the other 2 guys we have on the roster. He brings stability as he knows the D, but the other 2 guys should know the D by now as well.

His spot honestly could come down to what they need to do on Special Teams.

Special teams: I can't believe we are going to carry a 2nd long snapper, but at the moment, it surely looks possible. My calculations have Warren back on the 21st of September meaning he misses 2 games. I think it is possible W. Allen or Landry Jones are guys who could be cut and then brought back after the first 2 games after we don't need 2 Long Snappers.

The PS, I would make one change. To me, H. Jones would replace Molls as I think he has potential. Hubbard might also be there rather than Wesley Johnson, but we will see. The RB you have is as good a pick as any. I didn't think Moye was PS eligible, but it looks like he might be now.

Tarheelflyer, thanks for the comments. I struggled with putting Howard on the the roster and not BRICE. Totally agree with the assessment on him. This is where my emotions supplant logic. I REALLY like Dan Molls and his energy. Zumwalt makes the PS so if Howard does as well then Molls is gone.

    Isaiah Green....... ??????

DHB... HIS only value is as a STer and we have enough young speedy guys there now.

OK Cajun my last Defense of DHB for the week . lol. He was still used in a lot of GL and running packages ,he has tremendous value to us as a blocking WR compared to the rest of the WR group......

He is also blazing fast and can still take the top off the D .I will give you he probably won't make many circus catches ,but Teams still have to respect his speed. If not just let him work on basket catches Willie Mays style...Ben just drop the ball in the basket bam 7 points.

No way will they keep only 4 CBs on the 53, Poole I wouldn't put him on the 53 he hasn't shown anything. They can go with 3 RBs on the 53 and 1 RB on the PS. I seen where the media who cover the team expect them to keep 9 LBs not 10

I think it is possible that DHB is kept for only that reason. I just look at the RB spot we are all looking at would be pretty much nothing but a special teamer.

DHB vs. the Bills had only 4 (15%) ST snaps. Not good if that is your meal ticket. He was the 2nd team punt coverage gunner along with Brice. Blake & Shark are the 1st teamers. I'd keep Brice before I kept DHB. Bill C. once kept 11 LBers on the Roster. 10 is not unheard of. We have a lot of talent in our LB corp and they are playmakers and being in a 3-4 we'll keep plenty of LB. We typically keep 9 DB ( 4 S ) . I have us keeping 5 safeties but honestly I feel Green & McCain are fighting for a CB spot and that could come at the expense of a safety.....W. Allen, especially if he misses any more tackles or gets beat deep on Thursday. Cajun-

    What I would do/advise:

Quarterbacks (3): Ben, Gradkowski, L. Jones

Running Back (3): Bell, Blount, Archer

    Fullback (1): W. Johnson

Tight End (3): Miller, Spaeth, Palmer/Paulson/Blachflower winner

O-Line (8): Beachum, Foster, Pouncey, DeCastro, Gilbert, Adams, Whimper, Wallace

Wide Receiver (5): A. Brown, Wheaton, Moore, Bryant, J. Brown

    TOTAL OFFENSE: 23

D-Line (7): Heyward, McLendon, Tuitt, Keisel, McCullers, Thomas, Williams/Mauro/Arnfelt winner

LB (10): Timmons, Shazier, J. Jones, Worilds, V. Williams, Moats, C. Carter, Spence, Garvin, H. Jones (So'oto and Zumwaldt are close here).

DB (10): Polamalu, Mitchell, Taylor, C. Allen, Gay, W. Allen, S. Thomas, McCain, Golden/Dangerfield winner, Blake/Green/Richardson winner.

    TOTAL DEFENSE = 27

Comments: Keep 10 linebackers if possible. No 9th O-linemen deserves a spot, but I could look hard at cuts to pick up another O-lineman. Same with CB's to find a 5th there (not sold on Blake/Green/Richardson choice). Only keeping 3 RB's. Sorry Poole and thanks for your preseason carries (his talent is replaceable).

My general feeling of the roster and job Colbert has done is we are very thin on O-line and CB. As much as I like the D-line talent, I now see why we needed Keisel. In order to get to 7 D-linemen we were going 3+ deep into rookies (the roster above has 3 first year D-linemen even with Keisel).

An injury to the O-line or CB position is going to hurt this year.

I would cut Warren. Put Jones on practice Squad . I would also cut Will Allen . I would also consider keeping just 9 LB'S ,not sure which 1 I would cut yet.

Positions I would keep extra are WR,OL, and RB if we have 1 worth keeping. These could help with situational packages such as GL , 5 WR sets, Jumbo , Jet packages and things like that.

The three spots for special teams are kind of always there. We're not keeping a roster spot for two long snappers, even if one is hurt.

We can IR Warren for the first 6 weeks (minimum) and go with another long snapper in the mean time if that's available. Otherwise, injury settlement/release and move on to another long snapper. I like Warren, but in that line of work, you have to be available or your are gone.

Not much to add to my roster above.

    L. Jones is a tough make. He's PS eligible too.

DHB makes it now over Justin Brown. All the early positives out of those "camp reports" don't really matter now. DHB is playing better and does more on special teams and has more experience.

I here the finger injury to Wallace might mean we have to keep rookie Johnson on as a 9th O-lineman (could effect L. Jones a LOT).

Mauro looks to have won the 7th D-line spot (but again, if we decide to keep L. Jones, this spot is in jeopardy).

I like the 10 guys I picks at LB. Zumwaldt has been too hurt.

I think Golden and Blake make it out of the last secondary guys to get us to 10. I still think we could pick a guy up here on waivers.

I think Wesley Johnson has played well for his time playing so far. perfect ? no but is improving. we will keep him as a 3rd center and interior guy this year. he hustles and will only get better under munch. we need players like this to build from. he will get stronger as he goes and then be able to play many positions down the road. he's a must have for the future. you don't cut players that show upside on the O-line when not many others show quick improvement.

I think it is possible that L. Jones still makes the roster.

I don't think Adams is going anywhere. I just don't. I think the guys stays without a doubt. I think we only keep 9 LBs.

There is no way IMO right now that Zumwalt makes the roster. He hasn't been on the field. Maybe he makes the PS or IR, but not the roster.

Richardson and Green I doubt make the roster. I would say these are going to be McCain and W. Allen instead.

He is a bust time to move on.
