Honestly, I think James want's it more than the FO does. I've seen no evidence that we want him back. I honestly don't think he wants it.

    :lolol:

I don't know what his post means, doesnt really make sense to wait until camp to sign him, if it was going to happen, why not sign him already. I hope it does happen but not holding my breath.

Five days till most camps get underway and the job market starts to rise for a lot of vets due to injury and thinning of the herd. Dependable guys like James and Brett will get calls if even to put feelers out there.

My thinking is that they've got him on speed dial... He's there if they need him. They'll see what they've got in these young and new guys... The health situation halfway through preseason could also play a big role.

I could see Arizona signing him, they call them Steelers West for a reason and their best LB is suspended for the season. Arians signed a washed up Larry Foote, so it wouldn't surprise me if Harrison got a chance with them.

Except for the fact that he has said he wants to stay near Pittsburgh to be close to his kids which limits teams he would field offers from to around PA.

I don't think Harrison is in a position to make any demands, a job is a job.

He doesn't have to accept an offer, he may be ok with retiring if he can't come back here or stay close to home.

He's got millions of dollars and never has to work again if he doesn't want to. He can make any demand he wants. And I'm pretty sure he could get a non-football playing job if he wanted, too.

Is THIS why you think that the entire league wants nothing to do with him? Because you honestly don't understand? See, there could be dozens of teams that would take him as a backup for vet minimum. But with 2 Super Bowl rings at age 36 and a fear of flying, he might not be desperate to go play for a far-away team or a lousy team, or a team where he might have to learn a whole new defense or play out of position. Also, he said he wants to play for the Steelers, so we can all stop wondering. It's really just going to come down to whether or not Pittsburgh feels like they need him once the season approaches. The rest of the league has nothing to do with it.

Is this an argument for playing some more, or for retiring? The sooner he retires, the less likely he is to have a messed up body and brain in the future.

Also, the vet minimum (and even the rookie minimum!) is not "free" or "next to nothing." I understand it's way less than he used to make, but if he hasn't lost touch with all reality, he'll understand it's good money for his time. But you're right that when you weigh it next to possible long-term health problems, it may not be worth it no matter how much money there is.

I'm saying if I am a football player, with the health risks involved, I'm going to want more money. Vet minimum, which is around 400,000 isn't worth the risk IMO. I can totally understand Keisel not wanting to play for that, with everything else that goes into a football season, an incredibly grueling process, I'd probably just retire too. I haven't heard if JH would not play for vet minimum.

vet minimum for 10 year vets is closer to a mil. 955,000. that's a lot of money still, but as I said if we need keisel and Harrison for an injury I'd expect them to get something like foote got. around a mil and a half I believe. I think they are worth that as players still. minimum wage to them and a normal every day joe is quite different. I remember when a million dollars meant you were rich. LOL:lolol:
