A conversation in a different thread got me wondering about what everyone expects from Worilds this year in terms of sacks. This is just for fun of course, but what do you think his regular season total will be?

I'm saying 10 and I'll be very happy with that.

And if he proves me wrong and exceeds that, we'll have a very good year. ;)

so much depends on cam Thomas and JJ. I went with 14. as a full time starter and locked into one position on the left side and a 5th year 9+ million dollar guy, he's got to produce 6 more than he did last year. I know that's a lot but with the added speed and stunts that we can run with our other 3 LB'ers, and the schedule, it could be doable.

10-11 is a good ballpark figure, but as I said int he other thread, I just want to see more sacks all round.

went with 11, but just as freak said, it all depends on him staying healthy...... it's something he's never done, even when he was part time, but he's certainly capable of it

I went with 10. I think it's reasonable to expect somewhere in the 10-11 ballpark. His health and how the big boys up front do will be the determining factors.

I'm expecting something more in the 2008 LaMarr Woodley range vs. the 2008 James Harrison range.

I said 9 but I can see him going higher if they don't add a TE or RB to chip him but that could also be a plus for Jarvis since it means they have one less to block him on the other side.

Voted 9 but really needs to be @14
to be paid what he wants to be paid.
Not sure his body will let him play enough
to get to the 14 mark.

40 sacks for the team.. 8 by Worilds if he stays upright.

I went with 11 on the assumption that he makes it through the season without missing significant time, and stays on the left side where he can work against right tackles. He definitely has the ability to beat right tackles 1v1 on a regular basis. What could limit him (besides injury) is if we continue to get minimal pass rush elsewhere, and teams are able to send a TE or RB to chip and help the RT. I'm not sure that Worilds can have success being THE guy that other teams game plan for. Rather, I think he can be a really effective pass rusher as part of the overall pass rush package.

I voted 12 he had 8 last season and didn't start the whole season, I just hope he can stay on the field for 16 games. Players usually put up stats in their contract year so getting double digit sacks is doable.

I'm going with 11 sacks in 13 games. He won't make the Pro Bowl, and we'll all complain. He won't get a ton of help from his LDE (unless Keisel signs and Heyward shifts over), but he'll earn the sacks on his own.

thomas is the key. i'm not sold on him yet as a DE for us.

heyward will make JJ's life easier on that side. of course they will have extra TE help against them and worilds and cam will most likely be going against a RB or second TE all of which should play right into our hands and allow our ILB speed and/or troy being troy to shut down those quick routes. tuitt and arnfelt with their speed and strength i think will eventually help worilds more than thomas will.

Guess I'm one of the more negative people voting for 7.

Obviously hoping for more but I'm expecting inconsistent play from Thomas/Tuitt which won't help his cause. Plus I do think Jarvis does take a big step this year as well as solid contributions from the rest of the other LBers and DL (Heyward and big Mac).

two ways of looking at it, even with thomas and tuitt on that side. i think heyward will cause enough havoc that they pay more attention to his side and free up worilds a little more. that's why i went more for worilds. if bigmac can push the middle he will require some additional help from the opponants o-line and further help worilds. at least i hope it goes down this way.

I went with 7. Until the whole line as a whole proves to me that they can generate pressure, I won't be overly optimistic. I think he's capable of the 10-12 range in sacks, just not sure he gets there.

 He got 8 sacks last year, and only started 11 games. And for some of those, he was at ROLB, which doesn't suit him.

Your logic makes sense, but your numbers seem a little off. He'd have to either miss half the season or play considerably worse to only get 7 sacks.

Yeah, I don't see him going backwards with more games. He should hit at least 10.

Will he stay healthy? That is the question. I went with 8. I'll definitely be happier with more, as we all will.
