He's scheduled to participate in the OTA's in May per Pittsburgh media, that would be big for the team if he could make it back and play this season.

I know there's some Vince Williams fans out there, but it is Spence that holds the key to the future of our ILB position. If he's good to go then I am happy with the position. If he isn't, then to me, ILB is a HUGE priority. It will be interesting to see what the Steelers do with the position come the draft as it may give a clue to what they may know about his health status.

Yea, I'd throw J Jones in there. I want to see how he develops in his 2nd year.

Man it would be big to have him as a hybrid but I don't know with all this time that has passed and will he hesitate because of the severity of that injury. I think I'm more afraid for him to play then he is...lol

what will they do with moats? he's the one I want to see.

as for spence, they say he can run straight but the cutting is the trouble. I'm not holding high hopes he's going to be our answer this year. he may be taking part but to what extent is the question.

Right. All rookie contracts are for 4 years aside from 1st rounders who have a 5th year option.

So unrelated, but....watching Pacers/ATL NBA game and there was a commercial for getcopperfit.com, with the main endorsement coming from Bruce Davis, NFL LB. Looked like our bust...same guy and is he playing?

Hopefully Spence can be ready, if not I'm more than fine with Williams. Garvin doesn't hurt my feelings either if he's overall ready!

If Spence does not get back to the field this year do you cut him?

Maybe just let him ride out his contract. To me, it doesn't appear like we have an all-pro waiting to take his spot so let's wait it out. His contract is so small in the big picture that the only thing we'd lose by holding on to him is the ability to sign a new punter every week.

I think it's do or die for Spence this year, it would be a huge bonus for the Steelers if he makes it back to his normal playing form and would be a great story.

But, he has to show it this training camp, and he has to prove that he is better than Williams, Garvin, and Moats. Because we aren't going to carry 3 back up inside backers on the 53 man.

I'm pulling for the guy. But this will be his last shot with the Steelers this summer. I think the Steeelrs see something special in him or they wouldn't have kept him around this long. But, I'm sure they also see a 3rd round pick investment so that could have something to do with it as well.

Amazing comeback. Just curious, why did you bump up a 5 month old thread as opposed to starting a new one?

Yep, that he did, very happy for the kid, worked his tail off to get back out there. I dont think they will miss a beat out there with him filling in.

I think the injury that will be toughest to overcome is Ikes.

there was another Sean Spence thread I couldn't find I wanted to bump
It's just all inclusive in a way and we get to see the return of this man's career

I could've started a new one butt I was feeling alittle gun shy

bumping one of the Spence threads is like having the whole trilogy in one cliff note:smiley1:

I'm not excited about this start, I really do not need the extra worry.

A part of me is scared for the young man.
