How do we counter these defenses?

Defense with power house front 4's. I noticed we struggled a lot. Jets, Bucs, Ravens.

Teams that can rush successfully with 4 and drop 7. Ravens did that to us in the postseason.

How can this team overcome that?

You think we will be better this year?

The simple answer for me is that we have better blocking RBs, and we use extra TEs effectively.

That's the difference between putting 6 TDs past the Rats in the regular season, and losing shambolically in the postseason.

Only difference is that we didn't have Bell to create that space no?

    Exactly.

So we need to hope Williams can block like Bell for the first four weeks next season...

    Or catch like him...

Quick slants, and screens to the rb out of the backfield, can help counter the strong front 4.

May not be big gain plays, but can chew up 4 yard gains, often enough to keep the chains moving...

    GO STEELERS!

Tight ends need to be involved too, catching, and blocking...

It`s not just ONE thing, it`s a combination of things, but mostly, not relying on taking 4 step drops, and launching the ball long, like Bruce Arians loved to do...
Or throwing the "bubble screen" once every 4 downs...

It`s picking the spots for that, and keeping the D guessing about what you`re gonna do...

I have faith in Haley to be creative enough, that the strong defensive fronts can`t just tee off on us every down, and we can maintain time of possesion, and chew up 1st downs, even if it ain`t the old tried and true "Steeler method", with the Bus...

    GO STEELERS!!!

I thought Bell was only suspended for three games? Am I thinking wrong on that?

Improved OL play. There are still weak links
lining up for the PGH Steelers.

The key from a x and o's point is the ability to run and throw from the same sets . Getting the running game going will open up passing lanes off of PA. People say you can do it both ways which you can , but it is harder for DB'S to play run first and pass 2nd.

If no true run threat on a consistent basis then they can play pass first which helps keep the play in front of them . When this happens it's better to just go 5 Wide and throw the ball .
