He can be Leveon's backup, Bush was released by the Lions today. Bush is a good pass catcher out of the backfield, and he has that big play capability.

I actually am surprised there's not a thread about Jacoby Jones.

I've always thought he was injury prone as well. It's funny with guys like him because he was touted as this dude that was gonna "revolutionize" the game and all that crap and he never really has. I can't stand when all the talking heads go ahead and anoint these "next big things". How about let a guy earn it in the big leagues before we start sainting them? No pun intended. LOL.

I've made fun of the idea, but if he's healthy and cheap, he's miles more useful than Dri Archer.

This would be an outstanding pickup for the right price. Similar back to bell in some ways and a decent pass catcher.

How do I know? Because Bush has done it on this level. He's done everything from be a specialty guy, to splitting carries and running between the tackles. Dri Archer on the other hand is a 5'8 175 lbs pixie who couldn't pick up a blitz to save his life ... which would be fine if it was him and not Ben that would get killed.

Agreed. I'm very much looking forward to seeing what he does in year two.

I think he had some rookie jitters and is to small for the NFL. If he has enough heart he can make it in the NFL , but he will have to work Twice as hard as the other guys to make u for what he lacks in size.

Can he do it ? Will he do it ? We will see.

Aside from rookie jitters, it never seemed like the coaching staff had a good plan for how to use him.

I agree, same with Rainey. That's why I'm hesitant on a pass specialist TE. Can Haley devise a plan to use that weapon effectively? If they want to try with a mid to late round pick sure, give it a shot. Weigh the results then address it in future drafts. But I'd be leary on spending a high pick on one.

Back to Bush though, if we sign a FA RB let's go Helu.

Kind of seemed like they where waiting for him to do something on ST'S before giving him more reps . He ran really timid and that's why he lost that job.

He does need a clear plan of how we are going to use him, if they are not committed to that they might as well try and trade him for a 5th. or 6th. round pick.

To be fair, he killed it in college. But he has performed like a 3rd round pick in the NFL. He's just a guy, nothing more.

How do you use a guy that size? He's tiny for WR, let alone a RB. People bring up Darren Sproles, but Sproles is heavier and more compact. I honestly can't recall a RB or WR as small as Archer ever having any significant success in the NFL. If he can't get his PR/KR game down, then I just don't see what we do with him.

My first thought was Gerald "Ice Cube" McNeil. Had to look up his size though. 5'7" 145lbs

I thought the same, but his success was as a PR/KR ... and he wasn't even that good at it. Even with the new rules, NFL football is a brutal game. He may kill it in Canada vs lesser athletes and with the larger fields where he has more room to run away from contact.

Well guys that small have to see the field better than the other players . Guys like that have to get real small and avoid Big hits or Head on contact. Not sure how much of that Archer has , but if he can do all that and has the Heart to take the pain he will be productive.

Lots of things have to go right for that . I would take the 5th. round pick for him if I could get it.

He'd be a better returner than Archer.

Agreed. It doesn't seem like we are too adept at implementing new wrinkles into our offense once the season starts. You could say the same about the defensive side of the ball. It seems whenever someone gets hurt and misses some time like Dri or Shark they never have the ability to catch up and there never seems to be a viable plan to get them more involved. Here's to hoping more of our young guys can stay healthy and be part of the gameplan.

I say sign him just to keep him from scoring against us. I think that might be the only way. LOL.

Wether he can cut it or not is up to Dri. Wether they can figure out how to use him or not is out of his hands. Give him to Sean Payton and I bet you figure it all out real quick.

Archer is pretty solid too, I don't think 16 pounds would make all that much difference between success and failure, Sproles is still only 190 pounds.
