Yeah, I think we'll get something. Nothing big. Emmanuel Sanders and Mike Mitchell probably about cancel each other out. Cam Thomas, Al Woods. Ziggy Hood and Jerricho Cotchery signed for some good money, and then there are some lower numbers from Jonathan Dwyer, David Johnson. We'll probably get like a 5th and a 6th or something like that.

yea forgot about cotch. there should be some good value in those mid rounds to address some backup positions minimum. I'd like to see some 4th's in there for us.:beg: cam Thomas shouldn't cancel out much.:lolol:

You mean Comp Picks I take it.

And yeah we should get something around what the others are saying. I'd saying nothing higher than a 5th...but who knows, haha.

I wonder how much Sanders' pro bowl qualification will come into play. I know that Sanders and Mitchell are a perfect offset in terms of average annual dollars ($5M), but Sanders had postseason honors. I'm guessing they'll offset. Hood at $4M/yr average seems to be the one that will create a comp pick for us. I would expect Thomas to offset Woods, and other low priced contracts to cancel each other out (e.g. Moats canceling out Dwyer, etc.). Based on all of this, I'm guessing a 6th rounder for Hood, and that's about it.

Is $4M/year only worth a 6th? I was thinking (hoping?) Ziggy would fetch us a 5th.

I know yearly rate appears to be the #1 factor, but don't forget Jerricho Cotchery. His yearly rate is low, less than $2M per year, but if anything else factors into it at all he should be worth a pick. The contract total was $8M, there's a $2.25M signing bonus, and $2.25M guaranteed. And the length is 5 years. That's a lot of high numbers.

I didn't read the thread so forgive me if I'm being repetitive.

Some of them won't count, and you've left a couple off. Dwyer probably won't be factored in due to contract size and playing time, and the same goes for Velasco. Others we lost that I can think of are Ryan Clark and DJ.
Spaeth was signed last year. Webb's contract is too small to factor in. Same for McCain. Keisel was a re-sign. James Harrison was released by the Bengals. Others that we picked up that I can think of are Moats, Blount, and possibly DHB.

    I'd wager we end up with a 6th and a 7th.

Hindsight being what it is, it's hard not to agree with everyone who said we should have let the Patriots have Sanders last season.

Can't remember, was that before or after the draft that they decided to keep him?

If it was before, that would have had some interesting draFt implications.

Before. The restricted free agent signing period ends before the draft.

So, knowing they had 3 3rd round picks. What would they have done different earlier? Do they even take Jarvis or Bell?

we seem to do pretty well late in the draft so a 6th and 7th would be nice. a 5th and 6th would be better, tee hee. cotch did start all year as did clark. DJ I'm not sure about. didn't we lose a punter too? did he get signed anywhere? I completely forgot about moats. does signing will allen count against us?

Remember that we traded our 3rd round pick in 2014 for the 4th round pick we used to draft Shamarko Thomas in 2013, so we would've had 2 3rd round picks.

McBriar was the punter. He was a free agent for a long time after playing here IIRC. DJ played every game in SD, but wasn't a big role player. Will A. was a re-sign, and he was cut by the Cowboys in '13 anyway.

K, thanks chief. tough to remember. we made a lot more FA moves last year it seemed. at least a little higher profile then we are used to around here. I sure hope we do even better this year. CB? :smiley1::cool:
