There was a thread last week about Daniel McCullers starting last Sunday. I saw him in at the beginning of the game. Then he seemed to disappear. What happened, or was I just not seeing him?

Thank you for asking the question. I was curious to know as well. I saw him on a few plays

No news is good news for O-linemen and nose tackles.

I only watched for him on a few plays, and he seemed to do ok when I was able to watch him.

I was looking for him too but he didn't seem to do much. I was hoping with Mettenburger as a statue that the shear force of McCullers pushing up the middle would have caused havoc back there. Titans didn't get to run the ball well, so there's that.

Apparently, he was in and didn't do too well as they were cutting the hell out of him and getting him on the ground. He wasn't out there much for the second half.

Yeah I started hearing Cam's name called a lot then? Did Big Dan get benched?

From cooler talk and a mention on the terrible podcast they said he did. I didn't get to look at the game much since the signal was fading in and out throughout the second half.

He was a non factor, as was the rest of the defense.

I would guess a lot of it had to do with the fact we were making zack look like a pro bowler. needed more pressure and that aint dans strength

McCullers can get ready. How else is he supposed to learn how to stop teams from doing that to him?

When he's in there and mad, he moves bodies!

McCullers is a project, going to be a while before he is making a big difference, if ever.

McCullers played 13 snaps Monday, Tuitt played 4.

Yeah I was watching him a lot the other night and honestly he didn't have a very good game. Man he is huge though. You really can't appreciate how big he is until you see him standing next to the rest of that d line. That really puts things in perspective.

I honestly wouldn't care if we took a nose tackle in the draft.

Have to agree with some of the posters there.

There's a reason 7 footers are not often seen in pro/college football.

Reports are McCullers is starting against Orleans. McClendon's shoulder issue seems to be more then indicated.
Sure the rook didn't have a breakout game, his first start. Better jump on the bandwagon because he is the man right now.
Cam Thomas said he is not to comfortable playing the nose. Really? I have a problem seeing you on the field period!
McCullers is raw, but he will get better with reps. This team is going to need someone to clog the middle going forward. McClendon does not do that well on a consistent basis. And now with a major shoulder injury. So, it's Mt. McCullers going forward.

I think he needs some game tape recognition , he picked a side on about 4 or 5 snaps and he pushed the Center backwards early he just picked the wrong side or had the wrong angle...After those first few series they started cutting him and getting help from the OG against him...All in all not a bad day for him IMO he will have to learn how to deal with the things above , but after that he should be a strong NT for years...

I think some one, maybe Tunch and Wolfe, said Saints is perfect for Big Dan, because Saints will want to pass a lot. So all Dan needs to do is get up field.

Dan struggled against Titans because they were running that stretch run and also they were cutting Dan left and right. Saints probably won't be doing that.

Some fans are expecting too much of him, he's too raw he will not just get on the field and dominate.

Big Dan is a force, once he gets going forward in one direction he is like a bowling ball knocking pins down!

I don't see why you can't just attack the zone running scheme! Other defenses do it against the Steelers all the time and we saw what can happen when you engage 2 guys. You can't cut a guy who's got 2 guys engaged, which frees up everyone else to be gap sound!

That was what I thought as well. The stretch plays are a lot for him.
