Mac, it seemed to my untrained eye that Mike Adams held up ok when he had to come in. How did you see it?

I think most people would say that. The attempt to make him a left was asinine!

"Hey, that kid has always been a RT and he looked solid coming down the stretch in relief! Let's put him at LT and start him after he's been stabbed and missed most of the training camp!"

They were surprised that he failed miserably?

He did extremely well actually well called upon. RT is much better for Mike and he should be permanent at that spot

    depressed the longer he plays.

he did OK, BUT if you noticed heath didn't have much of a game receiving. there is a reason for that. he had to become a tackle assistant. that takes away a big part of the offense.

my problem is when beachum got hurt. mike would have went back to the left side and foster would have gone to the right. we are woefully thin at tackle. losing munch's Johnson was another big clunker for kevin Colbert. it could come back to bite us in a big way.

Yes - the decision to let Johnson go may be one we regret this season.

Concerning losing Munches Johnson, who actually made that decision?

When it comes time for those type decisions on the active roster, I would think the head coach basically makes that call, not the GM.

I would think the coach would say "I need another DB on the roster so I need to make room - I think we don't need the lineman so lets make the cut and see if it works out."

Presumably at the coaches meeting they all make the case for who to keep and who to let go, and in this case Munch had his Johnson removed.

We might see Adams this week at right tackle. I don't think Gilbert has been cleared to play.

You are probably right... IMO Adams is the better run blocker of the 2 and neither of them are stellar at pass blocking....Probably the reason Heath has all but disappeared , we need him to help to much in pass protection....

I think you're right. And I think he keeps showing glimpses of improvement at RT too. It's not like Gilbert was our savior there anyhow. And no, I don't think Adams will be either, but I think the more experience and play time he gets he'll keep improving. At least I hope so. :smiley1:

As far as Heath Miller having to stay in to help, I think that was going to be the case regardless because of Watt.

but but but.... The FO just gave Gilbert all this money! Kinda rare to pay a player big bucks only to get replaced.

Actually Pouncey would have moved to LT and Wallace would have come in @ C. You are correct in that we are thin at OT, or should I say Quality LT. Adams, Gilbert, Foster, Beechum can all play RT to a degree of competency with Gilbert being the top RT we have. Also Spaeth played more snaps this game due to his blocking skills in which he was needed to help Adams too.

I'm no qualified OL analyst but the sooner Gilbert returns the better off we'll be. Also I liked W. Johnson but he wasn't our OL savior. He was the 53rd ranked player on the roster. His upside is higher than Adams and perhaps even Wallace & Gilbert but his current skillset just wasn't good enough for us to rely on quite yet. I hated we lost him. I blame it on poor roster management by Tomlin!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wonder if Mike Golic could help. Don't think he could be worse than what we have

why would pouncey have moved to tackle? foster has moved to RT before when needed. Wallace has played LG before too. adams is the swing tackle.

kevin Colbert is ultimately the deciding factor for all personnel moves.
