You forgot Archie Manning ... the most overrated QB ever ... who never finished a season with more wins than losses, and only finished .500 once (1979).

The Saints retired his number. :roflmao:

AND he will probably wind up in the Hall of Fame as a "contributor" since he produced 2 Super Bowl MVPs. LOL.

Thought about starting a new thread for this, but decided to just interject it here in the official meaningless stat thread, lol. I heard an insane stat this week that Tom Brady has won his last 41 games at home against AFC opponents! That's actually pretty incredible and speaks to his preparation for AFC opponents which is crucial in tie breaker situations. Out of curiosity, I checked Ben's last 41 games at home against AFC opponents and he's 29-12 (71%). In Bradshaw's last 41 games at home against AFC opponents, he was 34-7 (83%). Anyway, just found this interesting and wanted to share FWIW.

it hurts to to say it, but Tom Brady is awesome. With more years than Ben, he only has 1 more loss. Many, many more wins.

Brady didn't look so great earlier this season when his pass protection went to the pasture. While Ben has his faults, you put Brady behind our line with him running for his life all the time and you'd see a different QB. I'm certain of it.

Seems pretty meaningful, after all, it's been said enough here that we shouldn't finish 8-8 with a QB like Ben. Lot of great QB's on that list.

The other 2004 first round picks...

    Eli Manning 2009 and 2013
    Philip Rivers 2008.2011, and 2012

And you could go on and on with other QBs but bringing them up would only lead to a discussion of good vs great QBs and hijack this thread down a completely different road.

Exactly what I meant when I said that this thread would be hijacked.

Two first rounders drafted the same year as Ben. One has great stats the other good stats, two SB wins and two SB MVPs. But you don't consider them great. Why? Is it because they they have multiple .500 and sub .500 seasons? If that's the case you can eliminate every QB from his day and age except Brady and Manning. In fact you can eliminate just about every other QB as well from the "great" category regardless of the era they played in. What you've done is make this a Ben vs Manning and Brady discussion. And I don't think that you'd get much of an argument from anyone that those guys are better than Ben.

it just proves a qb can't do it alone and the team around them can make or break them. paying one guy most of the money doesn't guarantee anything.

Don't look now, but the other QB who was often mentioned in the same breath as Brady and Manning, Drew Brees, is on pace for another sub .500 season. A current "great" QB who had the ball and the lead with less than 4 minutes left and threw a critical pick.

    Damn it Drew!
