They did bring in a vet in Levi Wallace, they need to find a good CB in the draft, Pierre and Layne aren't the guys you want playing.
Trubisky is ten years younger than Ryan, he's also more mobile and cheaper, the Steelers didn't have to give up anything to get him either.
All of this has already been discussed in other threads OP .

He's the same age as Haden, and Gilmore has been injured the last few years, I don't see them being interested in him. They're better off drafting...
Maybe he couldn't make it back because of his mental health.
Yeah, they should've just released him last season while he was grieving and injured :facepalm:.
I wouldn't mind if they traded back, they could use another mid round pick.
Some of you fans need to get over yourselves, Tuitt didn't just sit out and got paid, he wasn't ready to start the season because he had a knee...

Cam Akers for the Rams
You kept telling us how they were going to draft a CB in the first round last year .
We say that just about every year, but they never do it.
Or they didn't want to pay him after he only averaged about 9 YPC the last two seasons.
It does matter the position, they aren't going to draft an RB or TE at 20.
It means he's not coming back to the Steelers, I doubt he will retire.

With the Steelers consistent pass rush they can probably get by with a bunch of #2 type of CBs, they do need to find a stud CB in the draft though.
There will be good receivers available in the 3rd and 4th rounds.
The Patriots are the only team that has won more than the Steelers in the last 20 years.
