If that's the case, then the question remains: why give him any extension? He was already under contract for 2 more seasons.
I think he needed a change of scenery a couple seasons ago, then he might still be solid/serviceable.
If I was compartmentalizing, I'd leave that 3rd round pick as comp for Bell, so the Steelers at least get something out of that deal.
