Based on what I read, the guy misses a ton of tackles, so I guess he would fit in more with last season's defense.

I'm guessing he will be competing for a backup outside linebacker spot.

9 total. 6 last year with 12 starts, 3 in his first year in cleveland.. no more then bush, schobert, watt and highsmith. this has been a big problem with our defense. tackling stinks.

    I remember him in Cleveland.
He is a special team player mostly but does provide utility man backup services since as I recall he had switched from DE to LB or something like that.
So, for a cheap 1-year deal, you're not counting on him, he wouldn't kill you when he comes in to give someone a rest and, in a pinch, he can play DE.
I just see training camp competition and/or depth.

Eagle Linebackers are the last thing you want from them.

Thanks. I had no clue of him. But if he's just in special teams, I'm fine with this any day.

I'll have to ask my brother about him. He's an Eagles fan. He did start most of last season for them, so perhaps he can compete with Tuszka for the third or fourth spot and at least be serviceable in that role.

If he’s special teams, maybe this is the end of the disposable Watt

Have no clue who he is but I already like him more than Jarvis ( no meat on the bone ) Jones.

At least he is built like an NFL LB'r

Avery will be a much better fit in our defense then in phillys. He can stuff the run inside but is good off the edge standing up. Phillys wide 9 wasn't a good fit for him. This could be a pretty good move for us.

I liked him coming out of college, and wanted the Steelers to draft him, he's probably better than Taco at OLB.
